This short walk in Chugach State Park brings you to Barbara Falls, one of the park’s most photogenic waterfalls. The trailhead is just minutes away, so the walk is easy and brief. The falls are especially striking when frozen solid in colder weather, though conditions may vary. The route is family-friendly and suitable for visitors of different abilities.

Along the way, skilled naturalists will share information about Alaska’s boreal forests and local ecology. There’s also an opportunity to spot wildlife such as moose, snowshoe hare, porcupine, voles and a variety of birds. A prepacked snack courtesy of Kat’s Epic Trail Bites is provided, and micro-spikes are supplied for icy terrain to help with footing as needed.
