You will explore Vietnam’s coffee culture and its lesser-known stories, learning about the history behind local coffee traditions and what sets Vietnamese coffee apart from beans and brews elsewhere. As you move through the session, an emphasis on culture and context will sit alongside practical skills, so you’ll come away with both background and hands-on experience.
Along the way you will learn to make four of Vietnam’s most famous coffee preparations: egg coffee, salt coffee, coconut coffee and café phin. Each drink will be demonstrated and practised, giving you a feel for local techniques and flavour balances. You will also get to know the philosophy of tea and its beauty, seeing how tea culture complements coffee traditions in Vietnam. The experience is designed so you learn, taste and handle the methods yourself while gaining a clearer understanding of the stories and ideas behind these drinks.
