The cottage was ideally located for quiet strolls on the beach, feeling a million miles away from hustle and bustle, but also just a short journey to nearby towns for all amenities you could need. It was very clean and nicely decorated. Vera and her family were also very welcoming and lovely to speak with. They even let the boys feed a little lamb. Vera also gave us some great recommendations for food, and we would highly recommend the Lowther Arms.

The cottage has been exceptionally thoughtfully furnished. Everything you might need has been considered, and it was an absolute delight to discover all the things that had been done. Washing tablets, fuel for the wood burner, lighters, plentiful glasses (including nice wine glasses) washing up liquid, tea towels, tin-foil, a cafetière for coffee etc Location is incredible, a handful of metres from the beach

St Matthews cottages is located in Allonby, just 17 miles from Whinlatter Forest Park and 22 miles from Cat Bells.

The cottage is in a beautiful location with lovely views over the Solway coast. It has everything you need for a self catering trip, and is spotlessly clean. Dog friendly with a grassed garden at the back of the cottage. The Steamboat Inn is just next door and has a good selection of food and the staff are excellent. Would highly recommend.
