On the beach, so location was amazing. Rustic, cozy charm. Sleeps many but cute for two!

I liked the exceptional staff, hospitality, ryokan experience and location.

Beautiful home in a quiet neighborhood. Plenty of space for two families with children and our pup. We loved the well equipped kitchen and deck with a view of the ocean. The kids had a great time playing on the swings and singing karaoke. Very close to the beach and restaurants by car.

This is a really cute cabin to rent if you want to do BBQ and go to the beach. There is a fire pit, BBQ area, great kitchen, and plenty of beds so you can bring a group. We especially enjoyed Irita beach, a short drive away, but there is another beach about 1km away for people who prefer to walk. I hope to visit again. The cabin is made of natural wood and has a cozy feeling. There are board games, a stereo, a nice shower, and laundry. Everything is set up nicely so you can enjoy your time in Shimoda. Plus the staff recommended the Aoki grocery store with the best food so we could make a nice meal.

The property is so comfortable, it offered us a real Japanese and relaxing experience, full of antique details that can tell us a story, is just amazing. It’s located near to the Ohama beach, one of the most beautiful beaches in that area! My kids just loved the property, We really enjoyed being there, the Japanese futons are so comfortable.

The unit was clean, had plenty of space and blankets. The owner was very helpful and communicative. Our family loved the pool table, we had everything we needed and greatly appreciated the parking space as we could fit two minivans.

Very quiet. Surrounded by nature and could hear sounds of the waves. Indoor spaces were clean.

The host was great - called for two taxis. We wanted to be significantly above the beach yet still see the ocean so this was great. Recommend Copa for margaritas and fermenco for pizza. Also note you will be sent directions - screen shot them from google translate as you may need to tell the taxi where to make two lefts after getting to goishigahama neighborhood.

When you talk about luxury properties in Japan with a private pool and a perfect location, this place really sets the bar high! It was wonderful to stay somewhere where everything felt so classy. My family and I have visited many hotels and private houses over the years, but this one felt different. It was the perfect place to celebrate both our wedding anniversary and my grandma’s birthday. The Western-style design stood out compared to ordinary Japanese houses. My mom was also inspired by how beautifully the house was designed. The owner was very helpful and didn’t hesitate to answer calls even at night. Access to the nearest supermarkets, stores, and drugstores is reasonable as long as you have a car.

Great location with direct beach access to Tatodhama Beach. The area is very quiet and there is not much around but it's beautiful and quiet and relaxing. The hotel provides regular shuttles in both the morning and the afternoon into Shimoda City which only takes a few minutes, it's approx 30 min walk to Perry Rd or 45 mins to the train station. Or 1400 Yen in a taxi one way to the train station. Kaiseki dinner was amazing! There was so much food and great to try so many different dishes we wouldn't have tried otherwise. Breakfast again was lovely with a lot of food. rooms are clean and spacious. Staying at a Ryokan was a new experience for us so it was lovely to go to dinner and come back to our beds made up ready for the night and then head out for the day and return to the bed magically packed away and the room looking beautiful. Added bonus was the hotel onsen which we made sure to use each day, with various bath options inside and outside and with a lovely view of the ocean. Shimoda Yamatoken played a big part in us falling in love with the area.

The hotel has a great location by the beach. The room is very clean, and the food is delicious.

The location was excellent! The onsen nice and the staff were brilliant, especially Mr Goldfinger who greeted us at the door and went far and beyond to make our stay great!

It was fancy, staff were nice, there was a lot of activities inside the hotel as well as the Black Ship, restaurant, and walking area outside of the hotel.

It's amazing! Rooms are very clean, with everything you need for beautiful days at the beach. Breakfast was really good, we also had an amazing pizza night! The pizzas were very tasty! Good people, good place we loved!

The staff were so kind and understanding with our lack of Japanese language. They really made an effort to check on us and make sure we had everything we needed for our stay. It is a special location with a beautiful ocean view and the hot bath on the terrace was really relaxing.

The design and decor of the room and the location of the hotel

The Ocean front view and the hotspring were fantastic and unforgettable. Waking up with the peaceful view of sunrise over the ocean through the bedroom window was the BEST! The Breakfast was to die for, so many options and everything was delicious, including fresh fruits & salad. Can’t beat the experience and value. Wish we had more time to enjoy the Resort and beautiful private beach! Staff was most helpful and courteous!
