When we got to Trancoso we realized there were no international bank machines. The owners went above and beyond to help us figure out this situation. They were so kind, helpful, the breakfast was phenomenal, and it was truly a place where you could relax and recharge. I left a little piece of my soul there and I can't wait to go back!

From the moment I booked Maria Chico, I knew I was dealing with people who truly take pride in what they do. The professionalism of such a small bed and breakfast was evident even before I arrived in Caraíva. I personally loved the location, far enough to feel peaceful, yet close enough to everything. But what really stayed with me were the details. The shower head, the copper faucets, the custom-made drain covers, the little locket for the keys in case you and your husband decide to wander separately for a while. The tea and cake left out for guests in the afternoon. The faucet outside to wash the sand off your feet after the beach. It is such a small bed and breakfast, yet the attention to detail is remarkable. And honestly, it did not bother me one bit that it rained during many of the days we were in Caraíva. In fact, we loved the rain.

Located in Trancoso and within a 17-minute walk of Trancoso Beach, Aroeira Pousada features a garden, non-smoking rooms, and free WiFi throughout the property.

The hosts are very friendly and extremely helpful. I arrived late and all restaurants were closed and he ordered food for me. The location is perfect for exploring both Raiatea and Taha'a. There are free kanoes to use. There are some snorkeling opportunities just in front of the house. It was a very pleasant stay and I truly recommend it.
