Onsen, rooms, staff, location, everything was great.

Great location, had lots of parking and wonderful staff

It’s just right in the snow resort. The staff are friendly. Especially the staff who assisted us on our very first time going snow driving. We enjoyed it very much!

Incredibly warm and friendly staff, we felt so welcome and comfortable the entire stay. Was great having a large lounge downstairs with a bar and food available so we could gather there together with friends who were staying at nearby lodging. It’s a short walk to all the activity/restaurants on the main drag, and to the ski lift/ticket office. Facilities are older but very clean and we never lacked for anything. We appreciated the fresh hot tea and treats each afternoon in the room, and great breakfast/coffee each morning. Shinja, Kenji, Hitomi and their families were so sweet and incredibly helpful with everything to make sure we had an enjoyable visit. We are planning to stay at Hotel Mumon again on any future visits to the area!

Genuinely the best place we have ever stayed. We have done many snow trips in Aus and Abroad, this takes the cake. This is the best place we have been too. I'll try to keep it short: - Staff all genuinely care and check in with you each day. Brendon the owner continually goes above and beyond to make your stay as enjoyable and relaxing as possible. - Great food, drinks and service. We found it great eating Japanese on the mountain while snowboarding and then coming back for something a bit more western and close to home for dinner. - The lodge is family run and feels like another home when abroad, multiple spacious areas to relax, wood fire, drying room, kids room, lounge, vending machines, restaurant. Honestly what more could you ask for. - Convenience: Chairlift is right outside the lodge, food onsite as well as a conscience store a 3 minute walk away. They let you arrange pick up and drop off to the train station or town so no need to worry about taxis or busses. Lastly, the care. We were late, lost a room key, mixed up our days up and missed check out. Their first priority was make sure we were happy and had a roof over our heads. They were booked out and still managed to sort us somewhere to stay. Great Lodge, even better location, and best of all, the amazing staff.

The room is so clean, spacious and very comfortable. The staff is very accommodating and very welcoming. Highly recommended!!

Amazing hospitality and attentive service by the owners. Facilities are dated, but well maintained. Natural hot spring bath was exceptional.

We loved the location, On site onsen and the breakfast. We also loved that is was family owned and operated. It had such a local and authentic touch.

Amazing hotel well positioned for everything in Myoko. We had a Japanese room, which was so pretty with fabulous views. The food offerings, including the food trucks, are great, and make the hotel very easy. People congregate in the lobby lounge areas for food and drinks after skiing. The real highlight is the amazing indoor and outdoor onsens - great. There is also a big play room for little kids on the top floor, which may be useful for some. The breakfast was amazing - everything you could want. Onsite ski hire and lessons were very helpful - we used both and couldn’t be happier with the quality.

Tamami and Michael are wonderful hosts and treated us like family. Their home is beautiful and comfortable, their breakfasts are big and delicious, and Tamami's meals are spectacular. Thank you both for being so caring and for looking after us so well!

Tomiya Ryokan was a true authentic Japanese Ryokan, run by the most kind, warm-hearted family. Jintaro and Yukiye (sp?) prepared us the most amazing dinner (message them ahead for a dinner reservation). Their father, Hideo greeted us warmly. Their location is set right across from the Seki Onsen ski lift and the local community bus took us from the Sekiyama train station to a stop right in front of their ryokan. Their onsen is iron-rich, with fine red particulates and was perfect for evening, near full-moon soaking, but even better with the morning sunrise.

I had an absolutely wonderful time staying here! The place was dated but spotless, and very comfortable. From the moment I arrived, I received such a warm welcome from the incredibly kind and lovely hosts. The care and attention were truly amazing and made my stay extra special. I loved every moment of my time here and would absolutely love to come back! The location is fantastic—just a short walk to the ski area, which was perfect!

Great location, super friendly staff. Everyone spoke English. Very children friendly and several guests brought their pets as well.

If you into snowboarding/ski, this is a great location for that! The staff were amazing! Huge onsen! My husband’s Land Cruiser got stuck in a ditch and they helped my husband with the crazy situation and we are very grateful with them!

The owners of this place are extremely kind if you get the chance to meet them. The house in a very small village right next to a lovely local onsen.

This hotel is a hidden gem that's worth the detour up the road, even in winter. That being said, it can be challenging to get to in snow, which should be taken seriously if you're not comfortable driving on snowy roads in mountainous regions. The small town at the end of the road has a stream of hot spring water running down the road and is surrounded by steep mountains. The on-site onsen overlooks the mountains and is very beautiful. The staff are kind and very responsive as well.

This place is tremendous, a great representation of what a real Japanese ski town is like compared to the busy Habuka and Hokkaido ski towns.
