We loved our stay at Maccan's - the proximity to the beach is great, the service provided by staff was above and beyond what we have encountered to date on this journey. The rooms are spacious and provide ample lightning and privacy to relax. We felt our room was well priced - the water in shower is not super hot however, this did not impact negatively on our stay. The pool and pool surroundings are excellent to meet and converse with other guests - we found this an excellent opportunity to discuss other Sri Lankan and Arugam Bay experiences we may of other wised missed. Not to mention the crew at Maccan's are fairly handy surfers and will be more than happy to discuss - how best to assist you catching some Arugam Bay waves.

The ambience of the place was always great with a super friendly staff always there to help. The food and cocktail options were amazing and it certainly exceeded all of my already high expectations. The location itself is extremely convenient which was just about a 50m walk to the beach.

I had the pleasure of staying at Asai Surf Inn in Arugam Bay, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The location strikes a perfect balance—everything is easily accessible, yet it remains calm and relaxing, away from the crowds. The property itself is impressively well-maintained and stands out for its cleanliness—easily one of the cleanest places I’ve stayed in Sri Lanka. The rooms are generously sized, very comfortable, and kept in excellent condition with consistent daily housekeeping. The breakfast experience was another highlight of the stay. There was a wide variety of options, from fresh fruits and pastries to well-prepared hot dishes that catered to different tastes. Everything was flavorful and beautifully presented, with attentive staff ensuring items were always replenished. The dining area was clean, spacious, and had a pleasant atmosphere, making it a perfect way to start the day. What truly made the stay remarkable, however, was the level of hospitality. The staff were incredibly warm and attentive, always ready to assist with anything we needed. Whether it was arranging tuk tuk rides quickly or ensuring every detail of our stay was taken care of, their genuine care and dedication really stood out. Having stayed in many hotels around the world, it’s rare to find a place where the staff make such a meaningful difference to the overall experience. Asai Surf Inn did exactly that, and I’m truly grateful for the memorable stay.

I really recommend for all of you to stay at this villa of Rilu! The Villa is in a quiet area, 10 minutes walk to the beach. Having all the facilities you need for your perfect stay- spacious Villa and big rooms, all clean, a beautiful and green garden, a kitchen full of kitchen facilities, AC and fans, a hammock outside, and just chill to enjoy this place. Rilu is the owner, he is so kind, friendly and will help you with everything you need and he takes care of all. Rilu made my stay unforgettable- with his big heart and all smiles and good vibes, made me feel at home. Best value for money, will come back for sure thanks to Rilu- I really appreciate I got to know you and thank you for welcoming and having me with all your love! 💕

Friendly staff clean rooms and a good location

The rooms are great, clean, and comfortable, and the air conditioning was a welcome relief from the heat. The breakfast was excellent, featuring rich local cuisine flavors. Its location is perfect—positioned at the beginning of the main road and very close to the beach. Additionally, the staff and the owners are incredibly hospitable; they are respectful, attentive, and make sure to take care of everything we needed.

My stay at Wave Hunters was exactly what I was looking for. Youkan was an amazing host. He truly cares about his guests in a way that is rare — you can tell that hosting is his passion. I loved it whenever he brought out the guitar. Can't wait to come back.

Tranquil and serene. There are peacocks in the morning that frolic in the field of baby mango trees. The cabanas are set back very far from the street, so I slept very deeply. The entire property is shaded with enormous old trees and positioned for a wonderful breeze to flow through so the heat is minimized. The A/C and hot water worked well, and the room was clean and comfortable. Mattresses seemed fairly new which is always a bonus! The staff was friendly and had all the information I needed about where to eat, how to arrange for excursions, and was always available to answer my questions. I didn’t stay in the dorm-style rooms but I popped into the washrooms to rinse my hands and they were super clean! As a former backpacker this is always a big one for me. Oh! I also used their yoga area, there are so many places to enjoy some space outside. Def recommend if you want somewhere private and calm, Arugam bay is very loud and bustling with people so this was a lovely respite from the cacophony of the tourist season.

It was the perfect base for our visit to Arugam Bay. The rooms are clean, spacious & quiet.. The beach is in 50m walk. The owners of the hotel were lovely as well, and were happy to help with anything. The A/C is very good. different breakfasts wait in every morning. No ants or insects in the room. I extend my stays there for their good service and the best room. Highly recommend this place.
