Cheap hotels in Nochchiyagama

In May 2026, my spouse and I ended up off-season at a hotel named Lavendish Wild Wilpattu. This hotel pleasantly surprised us. It began with them offering refreshing drinks. The staff was very friendly, despite our late arrival and booking. We were amazed by how clean, pleasant, and cozy it was inside. The hotel is near the road, but once inside the courtyard, everything becomes peaceful and well-arranged. The rooms are vintage-styled but very clean and tidy. The views from the windows are stunning, filled with greenery and aromas. The pool was warm, clean, with the pH and cleaning time displayed. We spent a lot of time in the pool, even though we stayed only one day. We loved the breakfast-delicious, varied, and we sat outside, though we could have sat inside. Everything was great, warm, cozy, and the food was tasty, with staff offering anything we asked for. We also had dinner at the hotel and were very pleased with the dishes-tasty drinks, seafood, even fish and chips. We highly recommend staying here if you are nearby. A wonderful getaway-we truly loved it.

Hotel Tree Garden is run by a really lovely and welcoming family. Perfect location for a safari trip that can also be arranged by the hotel. Do bear in mind that there is no wifi available so come prepared with an esim or sri lankan sim card.

Beautiful boutique safari lodge. The individual attention and a caring team made us feel very special. Secluded, overlooking paddy fields. Delicious and authentic Sri Lankan food. Ranil and his team undertook one of the largest study of Sloth Bears so they know a thing or two when it came to the safari. We spent a day ticking off the most wonderful array of wildlife. We were here as a family and couldn’t be more happy.

We loved everything about the Ceylon Resort. Roshan and his family have built a beautiful accommodation, unpretentious yet elegant, a compliment to the nature all around it. The meals were the best we’ve had in Sri Lanka. Roshan took care of our transport to and from Wilpattu, and booked us on a small group (4) safari where we got lucky and saw a leopard plus other amazing animals. Our stay here was an absolute treat. A friend recommended this experience to us and we confidently give it a solid recommendation to others.

Owner Roshan, his wife and their staff go all out to give you a pleasant stay. The buffet in the evening after a safari (which they can arrange for you as well) is very nice. Great atmosphere all around the property!!

Wonderful stay and super kind hosts! Great food with great prices. Hosts help to organize safari & transportation. Really enjoyed meals prepared. No wi-fi. Great Dialog signal. Super spacious room with good bed and shower. Peaceful green yard. Super close to the lake where you can walk and watch many birds. Beautiful.

Excellent place to stay, great value, the owner upgraded me to a private room from the dorm for no extra charge, clean and comfortable. Best place I have stayed in Sri Lanka. He also arranged a safari into the park, finding additional people to cut down on the cost. The price for that was way lower than other quotes I got. There's complimentary tea in the mornings and when you arrive. All in all, you can go wrong 🙂 10/10

Wonderful hosts, really kind and helpful. Very clean rooms, great food, great location for safari. Really comfortable, definitely recommend coming here! Also recommend walking to the nearby lake from the home.

Hashan and his wife were exceptionally accommodating and truly made our stay memorable! We recommend treating the stay as a "whole package" experience: Accommodation (booked through booking.com): Located near the edge of Wilpattu National Park, the setting was scenic and convenient, making the early mornings for safari so much easier! While basic by Western standards, it’s clean, well-kept, and equipped with essentials like mosquito nets and warm water (not always common in the area and so nice after a day on safari). The delicious, spicy dinners (you have to ask for spice; if you get not spicy it is truly no spice) and cold beer added an authentic touch. We loved the short walk to a nearby tank, where we spotted more animals in the evenings. Safari Experience (we messaged and booked): We did two full-day safaris with Hashan, and his vehicle was perfect—an older model with a drop-down front window, ideal for photography. Sitting close to Hashan made it easy to communicate, and he was attentive to our needs, turning off the engine for steady shots and offering valuable wildlife insights (on other Safari's in Sri Lanka we sat separate to the driver which we found much less enjoyable). We saw an incredible range, from leopards (4 in two days!) to vibrant Bee-Eaters. The whole experience felt intimate and personalized, a true wildlife enthusiast’s dream! Current Costs (as of August 2024): Accommodation (with Dinner): 20000lkr/night National Park Entrance: 21500LKR/day (this covers a vehicle, driver and 2 people) Safari (with Food): 37000LKR/day (including tax for 2 people - in a private safari truck) Note; the above are approximate (we lost our receipt) and to the best of our memory - Hashan; if we're off feel free to correct us in the reply as this sort of info is very useful for people trip planning :D Overall, we can't recommend this experience highly enough for anyone seeking an authentic and well-rounded safari adventure!

Rating the "one bedroom house" - big living room, bedroom, big "kitchen" area (just drinking water and sink, no cooking facilities though) and comfy bathroom with hot water. nice garden and common area outside. hosts very nice and helpful with any request. highly recommended!

The breakfast was excellent and tasty. My family enjoyed the breakfast. Just a suggestion that coffee be served rather than tea and milk be provided too.

Chanidu and his mom could have not been more gracious. The 2 room villa is new and family owned and operated. Very quiet location with lots of bird activity. A great place to relax. We ate all our meals there and they were excellent. This is a hidden gem.
