We had a wonderful stay at this hotel and truly enjoyed every moment. The hotel is very comfortable, clean, and well maintained. The room was cleaned every day, and sometimes even twice a day, which made our stay especially pleasant. The beach is clean and well cared for, and it is cleaned every day. For swimming, it is best to walk about 200–300 meters along the beach, where the water is very calm and there are almost no people, offering a peaceful and private experience. The hotel is very family-friendly — calm, safe, and comfortable for staying with children, with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The food was excellent — very tasty with a diverse and well-balanced menu. Every meal was a pleasure. The owner of the hotel is very attentive and caring, and the staff is kind, gentle, and always ready to help. A very special thank you to the owner, Hassan, for the organization, and to hotel staff member Mohammed, who created a wonderful mood during our dinners and made every evening truly enjoyable. A special highlight was the professional massage therapist — truly skilled and highly qualified. The organization of excursions was excellent. Diving, snorkeling, and whale shark trips were perfectly arranged, safe, and memorable. This is a great hotel for visiting Mafia Island, especially if you want to enjoy nature, the ocean, and a calm, authentic atmosphere. We would be very happy to come back again.

The hotel and staff were both excellent. Hotel room was clean and comfortable. Pool was great and plenty of lounge chairs with sun and shade. Staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast made to order and plentiful. Dinners also tasty.

The property is very new, everything is neat and clean. I felt very sheltered and welcomed. The air conditioning worked perfectly. The rooms are very spacious and have high ceilings. The pool is clean and has a beautiful illumination at night. The restaurant is excellent. I liked that it has prices in shillings and not in dollars, and that locals (those who can afford it) come here for dinner. They are really devoted to offering good service not only to tourists but to returning customers. This place makes an excellent stopover, since it's just a 5 minutes walk to the airport.

I had a wonderful stay at Mgeni Homestay, with both Ally, the owner, and Bunda, the home caretaker, going above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable. The rooms are spacious and clean, and the house is centrally located in Kilindoni and close to the beach. I would recommend Mgeni to those who are traveling, either alone or in groups, and are looking for a budget and authentic homestay option.
