Bungalows in Tả Van

Gorgeous views from the bungalow. Everything is new. Chanh was a wonderful host. She lit a camp fire in the evening and everyone mingled and drank around it. She gave us some free water for our journey. We booked a 2D1N homestay trek with someone else, but the accommodation was just a dingy smelly hostel with mattresses on the floor and not an authentic family experience. Chanh said she also does trekking and combined with stays at her bungalows for a much cheaper rate! Do ask upon booking.

The location was not as convenient to get to but if you like to chill and relax, it’s perfect for you! The host was super friendly and delivered our bags from the street to our room. I would not recommend coming here in May. It is so hot and you’ll get scorched!

Our time here was our highlight in Sapa. Very welcoming family, lovely food and overall amazing hosts. When they took us trekking I became very light headed and unwell during the walk but the hosts were really helpful and made sure I was okay.

I stayed with May family almost for a week. What a great decision! Ta - May's son, contacted me instantly after I booked the room, and gave me all the details - he answered all my questions before I asked him! The whole family - May's husband, 2 sons, grandma and grandpa are very nice and always smile to you! Only May speaks English but you never feel left out of the conversation, she is very attentive and interesting to talk too! The guest house at the Homestay is brand new, only 3 months old:) so everything there is really new, the bed, the blankets and pillows, the bathroom is fancy, it's like you have your own house with the little terrace and amazing view at the rice fields, the mountains and the sunsets!! And many cute chickens and ducks:) And it's placed on the little hill so the wind helps to stay cool at evenings and hot days. The Red Dao village is small and quiet and people are friendly! The location of the homestay is superb, there is one road or path, so you just go out about 10 minutes to the right or to the left and you are already at some viewpoints or forest enjoying the nature! I haven't even started about the food yet! The family dinners/lunches are super delicious, they are really good cooks, I lived in Vietnam more than a year and here I tried the best spices I had in Vietnam so far! And the food are prepared from the vegetables they grow on their land, very fresh and organic. Everything is made with care at the Happy Bungalow! I don't think I could do justice to May and her family in my review but it was life changing! From the minute I booked to my departure, May and her family were incredibly welcoming. The three nights I spent here are sacred because I came as a guest and left as friends! May is a superwoman, she is an excellent tour guide, safe motorcyclist, fabulous chef and the best host I have ever had. The bungalow is in the most magical setting and to have delicious breakfast every morning immersed in a green oasis is special indeed. Cao (May's son) provided excellent communication and was always on hand to help. As a solo female traveller, I felt very safe my entire trip. I thoroughly enjoyed the trek, the herbal bath and motorbike tour! I also loved all the dinners I had and May's culinary expertise meant she was able to adapt the meals to my taste- i.e. extra spicy! I will make it a point to revisit Vietnam, just to stay with May and her family!

Beautiful view, comfortable beds, clean, friendly and helpful hosts. Spent a whole week here and it was a lovely stay all around. Adorable and playful puppies at the neighbour’s was a fun bonus :) Incredible value in a peaceful, quiet location a bit out of the main town. Highly recommend a stay here. Thank you everyone!

The owner was very helpful during our stay and was happy to adjust our booking when I made an error. The food was good and the accommodations were comfy. The property is beautiful and the staff are friendly. The owner helped us book tours and transport to where ever we wanted to go and had excellent recommendations for activities.we had a fabulous time!
