Good location close to Madarao ski area. But mostly loved Takashj and his family. Their home is very comfortable. They are very sweet and their food is good.

Tombi Lodge is located in Iiyama, just 16 miles from Ryuoo Ski Park and 19 miles from Jigokudani Monkey Park. This chalet offers free private parking, private check-in and check-out, and free Wifi.

We had a wonderful stay at White Tree with two young children for five nights - we felt like we were at home. We loved the delicious breakfast and dinners, the shared downstairs onsen style bath after a day on the snow, and the common space where our children could play with toys, hang out, and watch TV- they played with Hayden's and Saki's kids. We rented gear and had our girls take 4 days of their first ever ski lessons with Susie at Shinano Snowsports (run by White Tree) and bought discounted lift tickets for Tangram/Madarao from White Tree- it was so easy and convenient! Being within walking distance of Tangram's chairlift is great, and the staff and other guests were friendly and welcoming. Thank you Hayden and Saki for a wonderful stay!

You can walk to the slopes in about 5 minutes, which is nice. Our room was simple but satisfactory. What makes this place stand out is the exceptional service and friendliness from the staff. Not only did they help us navigate the little town, but the manager went above and beyond by giving snowboarding lessons and even droving us to town for dinner. They were great guides that really helped us make the best of our time in Madarao. Overall, it's a very relaxed and communal vibe in the lodge, which was what we were looking for.

The location was ideal as it was just a minute away from both rentals and the gondola. The beds were comfortable and the breakfast was delicious every morning. The staff was also very friendly and accommodating any time we needed anything. We will return there when we visit Nozawa Onsen next time.

Pension Moomin Papa is a very cute and cosy home from home. It was very warm with lovely underfloor heating, clean and tidy. You can order home cooked breakfast and dinner. The other travellers were nice and friendly. I loved my stay here!

My stay at Snow Monkey Lodge was exceptional! Friendly staff, clean environment, and an overall high quality hospitality experience. I’m very glad I made the choice to go there. Bonus was the sweet cat :)

Meanwhile Woods is located in Myoko, just 24 miles from Suzaka Zoo and 26 miles from Ryuoo Ski Park.

We cannot say enough great things about our stay at Meanwhile Woods. The location near the gondola is exceptional and there is an onsen next door. The kitchen is well equipped to make meals at home. The space is quiet and so peaceful. Marcus himself is the most gracious host one could ask for. This was an absolute 5/5 star stay. We do hope our travels bring us back to the myoko area again for a repeat visit. Do not hesitate to book this property, you won’t be disappointed in anything .

Great for small group or family wish we could have spent more time. Kitchen has everything you need and the sleeping arrangements were comfortable Short drive to the Arai Resort. Car is recommended but taxis are available.

Genuinely the best place we have ever stayed. We have done many snow trips in Aus and Abroad, this takes the cake. This is the best place we have been too. I'll try to keep it short: - Staff all genuinely care and check in with you each day. Brendon the owner continually goes above and beyond to make your stay as enjoyable and relaxing as possible. - Great food, drinks and service. We found it great eating Japanese on the mountain while snowboarding and then coming back for something a bit more western and close to home for dinner. - The lodge is family run and feels like another home when abroad, multiple spacious areas to relax, wood fire, drying room, kids room, lounge, vending machines, restaurant. Honestly what more could you ask for. - Convenience: Chairlift is right outside the lodge, food onsite as well as a conscience store a 3 minute walk away. They let you arrange pick up and drop off to the train station or town so no need to worry about taxis or busses. Lastly, the care. We were late, lost a room key, mixed up our days up and missed check out. Their first priority was make sure we were happy and had a roof over our heads. They were booked out and still managed to sort us somewhere to stay. Great Lodge, even better location, and best of all, the amazing staff.
