Kotka is a relatively small town and one can probably walk...

Kotka is a relatively small town and one can probably walk the entirety of it in about 4 hours. Both the Sapokka Water Garden and Maritime Center Vellamo are absolute wonders and deserve to be visited.

A regular-normal small city just like other cities in Finland. Our stay was too short and therefore I did not have other review to make about the city. But, oops, the city has its smell when we drove around. I heard it comes from some industrials facilities located not far away from the city.

We recently stayed at your resort in the Nitty House

We recently stayed at your resort in the Nitty House The mattress and the beds were extremely poor quality with many in our group having very little sleep due to the beds being so uncomfortable and very hot. Only twin beds, no doubles, I am not sure why this was this way. You couldn't open the windows in the upstairs bedrooms and the air conditioning made no difference to the room. One person in our group only had around 3 hours sleep every night. There was only seating outside on the decking for around 5 people and the BBQ was very small for 10 guests. We very much enjoyed our stay in Finland but the poor bedroom quality spoilt our stay. The accommodation was made with booking.com We contacted the resort following our stay but have still not received a response nearly three weeks later.

When you get tired of comfort and civilization, you should...

When you get tired of comfort and civilization, you should go to Kotka. Restaurants work well, security is good, but depression is visible even on the fence. It is not for lovers of aesthetic tourism. But no bad word can be said.

Kotka is a hidden gem with breathtaking sea views and rich...

Kotka is a hidden gem with breathtaking sea views and rich history. Maritime Centre Vellamo is definitely worth a visit, preferably with a tour guide because they'll tell you a lot about Kotka's history and the museum itself. The Centre is quite new. Initially they wanted to name it Hyöky but then realised that no foreigner will be able to pronounce it (don't even try if you're not Finnish). If you take the local train from Kouvola to Kotka, the train journey will be an adventure in itself. For more, just go to www.visitkotkahamina.fi :).

Easy to find, very clean flat, cozy and spacious. Near the road but quite inside, lots of light, good beds, nice TV, clean large balcony, bath instead of usual shower in the bathroom. Washing machine and microwave. Free parking in the yard. Prisma and Lidl are just 3 min away by car. About 10 min by car from Kotka city center. The host has met us and gave all the instructions. Payment at the place.

Refrigerator and water boiler were very handy. Enough space for a couple and good and clean facilities. Comfort bed. Possibility to use Chromecast which was ready installed to TV. Free parking in front of the hotel.
