We stayed here the night before our ferry back to Ireland. This is an excellent hotel, there was 3 of us booked and we ended up in a bedroom for 4, with two separate areas which was a great surprise. The hotel is spotless, and the breakfast was ample. It was excellent value for money! There was free parking outside. We stayed in the "budget" side, but were able to use the bar in the "non budget side", which had a little kids area which colouring etc.. so we could enjoy a pint while our daughter played. There is a restaurant onsite but if it doesn't suit there is a Mc Donalds, Burger King and Buffalo Grill local. The location is excellent, as you are right on the ring road to the ferry 15 mins away. It is also beside WBS Cherbourg for filling up on wine before the ferry home.

Spacious room, very comfortable. Quiet at night. Terrific blackout shutters. Steps from the basilica and the Alliance Française. Just a short stroll on the curving old rues and you’re among the shops and restaurants and squares. A classic port hotel that reminded me of hotels of the 1980s, which is a good thing. 🙂 I’ll stay there again.

Plenty of good places to eat seafood. La cite de la mer was full of interest. Loved the restaurant. Consider giving your tickets when you leave to young families who find the high entry price prohibitive.

So Few restaurants in the area just lots of bars.The streets are very narrow and there are roadworks everywhere so deviations everywhere making driving very difficult. I would never stay in Cherbourg town again.

More interesting than I expected.

More interesting than I expected. Quite a few very high-quality and reasonably priced restaurants with a wide variety of cuisines. La Cité de la Mer was better than expected, especially the tour of the retired nuclear ballistic missile submarine. And the Thomas Henry Museum is surprisingly good as is the shopping and local markets. We used it as a base of operations for the area, which worked out well; the only issue was that Cherbourg is at the end of the regional train network, so connections are not the best.

We've visited Cherbourg several times and always find...

We've visited Cherbourg several times and always find something new to do. This time we took a train ride to Bayeux - a very interesting town. The train station is a 10-15 minute walk from the town centre and there's a very frequent bus service to the station too.

Fantastic coastline with great beaches.

Fantastic coastline with great beaches. Beautiful small villages and small towns especially Barfleur on the coast. Excellent small family run restaurants and coffee shops. Not overly touristy and all the better for it.

The Cite de la Mer was very good with lots to see and do but...

The Cite de la Mer was very good with lots to see and do but it was expensive to enter. We enjoyed visiting Parc Emmanuel Liais and having a picnic there. Wandering around the old part of Cherbourg and checking out the market was fun. There is a great artisan ice cream place which we enjoyed going to. Having the shopping center nearby was very convenient as we could go to Carrefour easily. We visited Ravalet Castle which was manageable by bus and free to get in. We also went to Collignon swimming pool which was affordable and had good facilities.

The Staff were friendly and very helpful. I had to get a taxi from the Train Station in Cherbourg as there were no Taxis and the Hotel was very accommodating and booked me a taxi and also booked a taxi the next day to the Ferry Terminal.The Breakfast Buffet had a great choice.

The rooms were spacious and bright with a fridge and microwave which was handy, tv and ensuite, and the beds were very comfortable. The hotel was very reasonably priced and close to Cherbourg which was great for catching are ferry the next morning.

The Ambassadeur Hotel was exactly what was advertised. It is perfectly situated for our one night stay before getting the ferry back to Ireland. Breakfast buffet was a perfect. I recommend this hotel.
