Postcard perfect village!

Postcard perfect village! Beaches are not the best but the scenery, the alleys, restaurants are beautiful! I could unfortunately stay only for one night, but I wish I had at least one more night, maybe two more.

We've lived in France for 23 years and only just discovered this absolute gem of a town. It is beautiful, full of atmosphere, and has gone straight to around the top of our list of best places to visit in France. We'd recommend it to anyone.

Collioure is a delightful place to explore.

Collioure is a delightful place to explore. There are photograph opportunities wherever you turn. It was out of season so there are not so many restaurants open in the evenings on weekdays. There is plenty of choice at lunchtime but beware the aggressive seagulls stealing your food. A walk up to the windmill or an interesting visit to the Chateau Royal provides further insights into the history of this region and more spectacular views along the coast or inland to the snow capped peaks of Mount Canigou.

This is a charming town on the sea with wonderful views, lovely hilly streets and houses, very friendly and kind people, great history and an interesting castle. We were there out of season so the museum and other parts were closed but would love to go back to explore and enjoy more of it's relaxing vibe and delicious food.

Go in late September or October.

Go in late September or October. Its busy but no overly crowded with tourist. The city is perfect for a 36 hour stay or longer if needed. It is walkable in one day. there are great hikes to the Moulin and castel as well as museums. Stay away from the over priced water front restaurants and find off street meals for cheaper prices and better food. Gelato is a hit with everyone.

Everything is very central, so there is no need for transport unless you want to visit outside the town. The beaches are clean and safe with lifeguards on duty. There are many restaurants and all the restaurants we tried produced excellent food and wine at very reasonable prices. The walk to Port Vendres takes around 30 minutes on a very safe path. It's well worth a visit. There is a large choice of cafes and bars and a good market on Saturday mornings. The coastal path to Argeles Sur Mer is a lovely coastal walk, it's quite steep in places but well worth the effort. Carcassonne is less than 2 hours on the train. We went on a Sunday for 2 Euros return. It's a historical city famous for its mendiaval citadel.

We were only at the hotel for 24 hours but we loved EVERYTHING and are really looking forward to going back as soon as possible (although we shouldn't say that too loud as we would love to keep it to ourselves). Two absolutely 'stand-out' qualities of the Madeloc Hotel and Spa were the kindness and patience of the staff, as well as the pool / jacuzzi facilities. Not a 'cheap' hotel but worth every penny in our view for a wonderful, romantic getaway to Collioure. Just excellent, thank you so much.

Balcony lovely and view of the hills quite splendid. Good shower. Lots of accessories, air con good wifi the same. Once you realise it is a good few steps to the town you realise the location is good, Collioure is fab, been there many times, lots of facilities and good access from road and rail. Probably our last visit as getting very old! Would recommend to the younger generations (we are near to 80!)

Beautiful hotel in a perfect location in Collioure…everything on the doorstep and a lively pool to cool off in. Delish and varied breakfast buffet each morning, eaten under a stunning magnolia tree. We were privileged to get a room upgrade which was lovely.
