We found Font Romeu to be a great little town - very...
We found Font Romeu to be a great little town - very friendly and very easy to walk around. It has everything you need in its many shops and restaurants, including a well-stocked supermarket that is open all day on Sunday at this time of year.
There is a ski lift station situated in the centre of the town where we took a telecabin and then a télésiège up to a beautiful spot, where the views are breathtaking. There's also a good restaurant where we had a lovely, but reasonably-priced, meal.

Font Romeu was made as a sporting resort in the 1920s.
Font Romeu was made as a sporting resort in the 1920s.
Odeillo further down the hill was the original village.
Because of the benefits of the healthy air, originally Font Romeu was used as a place to treat patients with breathing problems. That no longer is the case.
Now it is a ski resort and also a summer destination.
The views are spectacular and the skiing is augmented by many snow cannons.There are also many rambling routes.
There are restaurants and shops but these are quite seasonal and often closed in low season.
Font Romeu is also a good base from which to visit local towns and villages, also lakes and even the sea, either in France or, slightly further afield in Northern Spain.

The staff were very helpful and friendly. Breakfast is available on site, which is useful before hitting the slopes. For a budget hotel is is very clean and efficient. The beds were comfortable, and they gave us a free upgrade to the two-bedroom suite. It's certainly no luxurious, but if you're looking for a convenient and comfortable place to sleep while skiing in Font Romeu, this is a good choice. Walking distance to the telecabina.

The apartment is well situated in Font Romeu. We could park our car in front of the house.
There was some things in the kitchen we missed and one thing was broken. But after a call to the person who gave us the key it just took some hours and it was fixed. Very good service.
