The hotel is located away from the city center, but it’s very easy to reach by car. When we stayed, the property was almost empty, which created a pleasant and friendly atmosphere. The staff were welcoming, the breakfast was good, and the location convenient. Our room was very large and comfortable.

We love this hotel, we always stay here when we cross over to Spain. The staff is lovely, the food is good, the place is so comfortable. I still miss a kettle with coffee and tea in the room, but I understand is not very usual in France ;). Thank you guys for making us feel home as always!

The Stuff of Legends

Even though tranquil Le Mans has a well-preserved medieval centre and virtually intact Gallo-Roman walls, it is most famous for its iconic 24-hour race. Motorsports lovers the world over descend for a day (and night) of non-stop racing on the Circuit de la Sarthe.

This legendary track encompasses parts of the permanent Bugatti Circuit, but also spills out onto normal roads which get shut for the occasion. One local restaurant is even placed right by a straight which cars hurtle down at top speed before braking for the bend near the Golf des 4 Heures club in Mulsanne.

Also within the circuit are the Antarès events venue and La Sarthe Automobile Museum, open even when there is no racing. The name of the latter refers to the Sarthe River running through the city centre. Colourful, half-timbered buildings line its historic banks, and steps climb gentle hills in the old town.

More charming houses fill the streets surrounding impressive St Julian's Cathedral, started in the 11th century. The city history is detailed in the nearby Museum of Queen Bérengère, and the town hall is in part of the former Palace of the Counts of Maine.

Just stopped overnight in Le Mans, the weekend after the 24hour race. This was enough time to visit the city centre, but would have required longer to visit the race track or any of the attractions outside of the city centre.

To get the best you need a day to explore the old town.

To get the best you need a day to explore the old town. We were there when it was very hot which did make exploring a little difficult. Many shops and restaurants close on a Monday. Le Man did surprise us - we did not expect the old town to be so extensive. The Cathedral is wonderful especially the windows.

Old town architecture, restaurants and views - amazing. Great vibe in the main square, some lovely restaurants and full of people having fun. We took a drive out to visit some of the beautiful Sarthe Riverside villages - Fresnay sur Sarthe is gorgeous. The tram is a great way to get around - and very affortable.

We’ve been to Le Mans a couple of years ago and had a lovely time. We enjoyed this visit too, but at present they are digging up swathes of the city’s roads to put in tram lines (May 2026). The road surfaces are all over the place and the sat nav struggled with the extensive road closures. Be prepared for the challenge! Once we arrived all was fine. A short walk into town and a couple of beers in the historic part of the city put everything to rights. Worth visiting certainly - but with hindsight we would book a hotel away from the city centre.

My accommodation was exceptional value for money and perfect for my needs! Le Mans racetrack was everything I imagined and more - the exhibition was eye-watering and I could have spent all day walking around the track! And... the limited edition range of Steve McQueen clothing in the on-site store was too die for! A wonderful stay!

Clean and tidy house with very friendly people! Lovely situated place outside from Le Mans, but very close the Circuit, Museum and centrum town. We were surprised with location, playground in front of accommodation and small farm. We are recommend this place for family with younger kids, who can play safely outside by themselves. Owners were amazing, surprisingly brought us breakfast, the last day, which we didn’t order. ❤️Love this place. Highly recommended!

Great stay for Le Mans! I stayed here during my visit to Le Mans and it was perfect! The location was ideal, with the tram nearby making it very easy to get to the circuit. The place itself was very clean, comfortable and nicely decorated. What really stood out was how friendly and helpful the owners were; they really made us feel very welcome. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone planning a visit to Le Mans!

Extremely comfortable bed. Wonderful AC. Easy walk into town for restaurants though I would advise to book them as Le Mans is very busy. It is a wonderful old town. LePrince is a brilliant hotel. Has parking too.
