FranceThis was a terrific place to stay. We are hiking the Via Francigena and stayed here for 1 night. The staff were all friendly, the shower was fantastic, the bed was comfortable, the breakfast was hearty and we had a delicious dinner at the hotel restaurant. It was one of the best meals we have had in a very long time. We would highly recommend this hotel and restaurant!

NetherlandsLaetitia was a wonderful host. We could not make check-in time and she arranged that we could still get into our room with a key box. Beautiful old building, wonderful room with everything you could with for (even a spa bathtub). Breakfast was made fresh in the morning by the host, and she had the most wonderful cute dog :-)

United KingdomSofie's welcome was warm and friendly. The location is excellent, the rooms lovingly appointed. Everything was super clean and breakfast delicious. We travelled as a family of four and booked two rooms for one note. I would highly recommend this little gem in the heart of Peronne.

Péronne is handy for the Somme battlefields and war...
Péronne is handy for the Somme battlefields and war cemeteries as well as for exploring the wider area. The town is quite vibrant and tidy. There are a number of Restaurants, bars and cafes as well as a regular open-air market and selection of shops.
It's a town that I (and my family and friends who have visited) feel comfortable and safe in. We like it.

Excellent WW1 Museum at the Chateau.
Excellent WW1 Museum at the Chateau. Peronne has had its share of adversity during Medieval times and during the WW1 when it was behind the German lines in the centre of the Somme offensive.
There are also some very pleasant walking routes around the lakes formed by the River Somme which we unfortunately had no time to explore.

The Great War Museum was excellent.
The Great War Museum was excellent. A premier collection of artefacts associated with conflicts over the centuries but with a particular focus on The Great War. A detailed presentation of social and military history in the context of the Great War. Superb.

The origins of the château-fortress of Péronne go back to the 7th Century AD. In medieval times it was a Royal Residence for the Ancien Régime. The complex, that now integrates a 21st C. wing, houses a WW I museum with focus on the non military aspects of that war and the conséquences for the region. Remarkable townhall and a wealth of slow travel and biking options in the vicinity.

Peronne is a great town for being centralised when visiting the Somme battlefields of WW1,cosy small bars and restraunts and a great takeaway eatery in the highstreet ehich is really recommendable if you are needing something quick to eat.

We mostly picked Peronne as it was a well located stop for our tour - and it had a museum. I'm so glad I did as the museum was one of the best parts of the trip (although really sobering and sad).

The reception and other staff is extremely friendly, breakfast was very good for it's price. The hotel room was very clean. We didn't hear any noise from neighbour's or the works, we had a lovely sleep.
