Laurent, what an incredible guy! We arrived extremely late (4:00) and the guy was still full energy and super kind, also a bonus in France, he speaks perfectly English! The room was clean and super big, beds were comfortable and basically everything superb. Also the parking is Gated (closed) and free! Would recommend 100% Thanks again.

The Hostellerie is located in a fabulous historic seminary (college for priests) and the largest building in what is a gem of the historic cathedral town of Viviers, as an alternative to the rush down the Route de Soleil. The building still operates as a diocese centre, and we heard a choir signing from the courtyard just after we arrived. The rooms are the rooms attendees at the seminary would have used and are basic but clean with en-suite facilities - there is no luxury or pampering. The building's heritage oozes through everything, from stone steps that carry the wear of hundreds of attendees, huge entrance doors, and courtyards and garden. Parking was free on-site at the back of the building and in the evening the huge outer gates are closed and the area is closed off to anyone but residents with a passcode. The town itself was a revelation. It's medieval, still framed by its walls with views over the Rhone, and a Cathedral building at the top of the village. There are a small number of restaurants and down at the 'port' on the river we were lucky enought to run into a town festival. If you want to immerse yourself in traditional France this is an ideal location.
