FAQs about hotels in Milton Keynes

A Hub of Entertainment

Best known for its concrete cows and legendary roundabout system, Milton Keynes is just off the M1 motorway linking Birmingham and London. Its proximity to the latter triggered its development from village to new town in the 1960s.

Milton Keynes Village still exists, between tranquil Ouzel Valley Park and Willen Lake with its peace pagoda and watersports. Next door, Gulliver’s Land children’s theme park is bordered by the Grand Union Canal, whose banks have cycle and footpaths.

In the town centre is the aptly named MK Hub, an entertainment core near the train station. In addition to accommodation, bars and restaurants, it houses the huge Xscape complex, comprising the Airkix Indoor Skydiving centre, cinemas, and the UK’s largest indoor ski slope. Nearby are the shops of Centre: MK and Midsummer Place.

On the town’s outskirts is the National Bowl entertainment venue, and Bletchley Park, where the German Enigma code was cracked during World War II. To the east Woburn Abbey has a large safari park, while north-west is Silverstone, home of the British Grand Prix. The Red Bull Racing F1 team are based in Milton Keynes, and the MK Dons are the local football team. The Open University is also headquartered here.

Of the many Milton Keynes hotels, apartments and B&Bs on Booking.com, most have parking and some have swimming pools.

As we live in Milton Keynes I am probably biased, but I believe that it has a lot to offer to people of all ages. MK is more than just a shopping centre, there is so much green space all around, including hidden away villages with good local pubs/restaurants and lovely walks. Also the Grand Union Canal runs through MK and there are many places to eat and drink right on the canal with views across fields and countryside. For great views, open space and walks go to Campbell Park which is right next to the shopping centre and leads to the canal and the canal side pub the Warbler on the Wharf. There is also Linford Manor house with its gardens, lake and local pub, the Nags Head. From the outside, MK appears to be all housing estates and dual carriageways, but there is so much more to discover when you get here.

We have stopped off in Milton Keynes and stayed at a few hotels in the past as travelling back from Gloucestershire or Oxford to visit The Theatre. This time we came up to view a property and stayed at a Holiday Inn Milton Keynes East. Out of all hotels in Milton Keynes we enjoyed staying in this one best. We also loved visiting the shopping centre as it is now thriving (before it was run down a bit) Now it looks amazing and a lovely shopping experience with plenty of places to eat. We were happy to find The Grange Milton Keynes - a fantastic Indian Restaurant with the best curry at affordable prices. Beautiful decor, very clean and pristine and staff lovely and helpful.

Milton Keynes is one of the best places for shopping they have a lovely shopping centre all on one floor the ground floor the shops are amazing it's always busy it's a lovely place the people are nice I don't think you can go wrong going to Milton Keynes and the parking is selective but it's a very busy shopping centre but amazing you can't really go wrong

We requested a ground floor room and got it.

We requested a ground floor room and got it. Unfortunately the view wasn't very obvious. They should add a balcony. There was no air cond (which we knew) but nobody expected the weather to be so hot. The window did open but only about two inches. We needed the fan on all night to get any sleep. The menu in the restaurant was very limited - snacks or burgers or a choice of 4 pastas. We had the pastas and they were very nice. We also had deserts which weren't very good - my waffle was soggy when I expected it crunchy with the ice cream on it. The bar staff were literally clueless. We were told the next day that the staff who were booked cancelled. But, as far as i am concerned the Manager should have stayed around to see they were managing OK (and they weren't!!). No excuses. Breakfast was not included.
