Great little town; easy to reach from Athens airport by...
Great little town; easy to reach from Athens airport by rental car, less than two hours even though it was rush hour. Although we were out of season (half May) shops and a few restaurants were open. It's a great place to visit the Argolis/Corinth region, and even venture further into Peloponnesos. The main attraction of course is Mycenae, but make sure to visit some of the other Mycenaean sites such as Tyrins which is also very close by. We were there only 4 days, way too short!

We had a three night stay in La Petit Planete after 10 days...
We had a three night stay in La Petit Planete after 10 days exploring Athens (4 nights) and the Peloponnese so our Mykines stay was a chance to wind down and relax with some wine tasting and pool time ahead of driving back to Athens for our flight. Recommend ancient Mycenae as it;s different from the classical ancient Greek as it dates back to 1300=1600 BC, Great views across the valley to the hills beyond, Great base for touring.

The Archaeological site of Mycenae was on our "bucket list".
The Archaeological site of Mycenae was on our "bucket list". Impressive site in a stunning hilly backdrop. Easy parking. Stones are slippery so wear correct footwear. Not for very elderly or disabled people as the site is on a hill. Best place to eat is La Petite Planete just up the road from the site.

Very handy for Mycenae acropolis plus within easy reach of...
Very handy for Mycenae acropolis plus within easy reach of many other ancient sites - Nemea, the Argive Heraion, Dendra cemetery, Tiryns, Argos town, Midea, etc. Lots of advice on ancient sites and opening times. We also got specialist advice on walks from the hotel to outstanding rock-cut and Tholos tombs nearby that the package crowd don't see. Dinner at the hotel (not Sunday), plus there are 4 or 5 tavernas in the village (which is quiet after the coaches leave for the day).
