Excellent summer vacation. Many thanks to Samaina personnel and managament for making this dream vacation possible. We stayed in a room with a sea view. The sea was calm on two days and very rough on one day and we enjoyed both the calm water and the strong waves. The beach has stones and pebbles for a few meters and then sandy sea floor with shallow waters for around 50 meters. Bonus of the vacation was the variety of delicious food. In every meal there were delicious options for meat lovers, rich salad bar, fruits and deserts. The western, northwestern breeze eased the warmth of the day. The staff, especially Chara, Stelyos, Nikos, Maria, Leita, Eva, were there to help you enjoy the best of your holiday. The Rock night was very enjoyable, thanks to the two-piece band. Many thanks!

Property is in a nice location, in a quiet forested area, out of city centre but near Potami beach. Host cooked breakfast on demand which included everything I could ever ask plus a little more. Room and bathroom were spotless clean and the bed was very comfortable. Good value for money!

Karlovasi has got the nicest mansions in the island.Much history,windy with fresh sea air you seldom feel the heat of the day. Widespread with many taverns, north beaches is offered for training , running, cycling, swmming,fishing. I always prefer staying in Karlovasi which is quieter than Pythagoreio and Kokari and visiting these places during the day.

Plenty of shops and bars in the new town.

Plenty of shops and bars in the new town. The old town was completely unspoilt and it was lovely to wander around the very steep streets taking in all the wonderful views but be warned take trainers as some of the streets were slippy in sandals The bars restaurants and cafes in the port area were really charming and you could while away an hour or two here Beaches not brilliant although loungers comfortable and free but associated with a cafe Potami beach only a 20 minute walk around the headland and that was a lovely beach again free loungers at the cafes

Lovely, quaint and calm (almost pristine)island not crammed...

Lovely, quaint and calm (almost pristine)island not crammed with tourists. Karlovasi is surrounded by blue clear sea, green lush trees, plentiful taverns and nice friendly people. Many homes from 1800s have been restored and are charming. There is a CENTER of town full with stores and lounges/bars to relax.

Karlovasi, the nearby towns, and the island of Samos as a...

Karlovasi, the nearby towns, and the island of Samos as a whole, is one of the best experiences I’ve ever had in the Greek islands. It offers a bit of everything… breathtaking mountain and ocean views, beautiful (and not crowded) beaches, abundant vegetation (including the magnificent Potami waterfalls) friendly people, delicious foods and restaurants (many accessible by foot) plus much more!!

It's worth going to Potami for the beaches rather than...

It's worth going to Potami for the beaches rather than sticking to the hotel beach closer to the Port. A set if beach loungers at the hotel beach costs €5 and food/drink is not readily available. At Potami if you buy coffees or food from the beach restaurants then the price of the chairs are comped. Plus Potami has better views and the waterfalls nearby.

Working port.

Working port. Things around Karlovasi are nice though we feel they could do much more to make the waterfront area more enjoyable to visit. Perhaps more boutique shops, small cafes other than the few in a row. No sense of it having any charm really. The town of Karlovasi is pretty boring. They need to re-think their town's accesibility as the location is good and there are lots to see around it.

The room was incredibly spacious and there was a small kitchenette too. The hotel is located close to the port and the restaurants on the seaside. I liked the community feel of the place (it's in an enclosing with several buildings connected to the hotel). The breakfast had several options
