Everything was great! We stayed one night to go to Samaria gorge. We could check-in early in the morning so we could leave our luggage. The staff and owners were very helpful and polite. The room was very clean and comfortable and the hotel is very well maintained from the '90s. Location was great, in a quiet road in the mountain and just 5 minutes from the gorge. And even better, the hotel has a great restaurant as well to have dinner after the gorge. Breakfast was great, there was a set table waiting for us in the morning. Highly recommended :)

Beautiful views from the apartment and only 7 minute drive to Sougia. Great place to stay while we hiked around the trails in the area in the off season. The kitchen was good to make meals since most all restaurants are closed in late November.

Exceptionally beautiful location and spectacular balcony/sitting area. So peaceful and calm. We loved visiting with the kittens and drinking our tea/coffee looking at the gorgeous view and breathing the fresh air. Hosts were so helpful and kind. We hope to return!!

Stunning location, gorgeous view, friendly helpful hosts, what more can you ask for? The crisp air meant we all slept like babies during the night in the August heat wave, you're in the mountains after all, while everyone else is cooking by the beaches down below. We will definitely be back!

Omalos is perfect for a few peaceful days away from mass tourism. The area is remote, quiet, and surrounded by impressive mountain scenery, making it an ideal base for hikes such as the Samaria Gorge, Gingilos, and other excursions in the White Mountains. A wonderful place for nature, hiking, and complete relaxation.

Great plain, dramatically encircled by mountains, above the Samaria Gorge in southwest Crete. Perfect for walkers with many routes roundabout, including up into the Lefka Ori, or White Mountains. Very rural, with the tinkle of sheep bells ringing out perpetually in the air. Life up here is a bit more real than down on the coast. A small selection of hotels, all, I imagine, of the same high standard.

Most importantly the staff were very friendly and helpful.

Most importantly the staff were very friendly and helpful. They went out of their way to help with planning our walk on the Samaria gorge hike and made us feel welcome. We stayed just 2 nights - before the walk and after - which I highly recommend doing. The rooms were so dark and quite and had very comfortable beds so we rested very well. Also, we had to change our dates of the booking, which they did for us without any cost or complication - which was a big plus. Definitely recommend it as a great place to stay in that area.
