Amazing place!! Everything about this place is perfect: the hotel staff is super helpful (bringing you to dinner because it’s already dark for example with a tuktuk), cooking very well and making sure you have everything you need (even helping doing our laundry!). The place wow it’s stunning, a great swimming pool clean and huge, the bedrooms are also huge with two beds (a double and a single) with high end sheets/mattresses, you have AC a big plus, a huge bathroom and even a kitchen integrated! It’s calm but very close to everything you need, you hear the birds chirping around you while swimming after a great safari they can help organize. The owner speaks English and Spanish fluently, this is a huge plus! There is a little boy my son has been so happy to play with as well, very sweet - an authentic experience for us!

Exceptional facilities and amazing 5 star staff for low price. The hotel manager and his wife as well as the rest of the personnel have been exceptionally kind to us during our day. I arrived sick and they kindly brought me to the doctor, made me rice porridge and juice to recover. We ended up staying one night more and arranged us to stay in the same room. I got a bit better the day after and was able to do the elephant safari that the manager kindly organized for us. Finally he arranged a car to ella at a good price as well. The room was very clean and well furnished, the pool was clean and new and we could see a bunch of animals in the trees nearby. The food cooked was also delicious. Would definitely recommend you to stay there !!!

Everything! The service was impeccable. We booked a safari with the hotel as well, which was amazing! The food is really good (i recommend the Sri Lankan curry and rice; also the sandwiches they provided for the safari were delicious). They let us use the pool after we checked out as we still had some time to kill before departing to the next place.

We liked everything. The small houses are placed in the beautiful garden of Mila’s, where you are staying in between cinnamon and pepper plants, which is awesome. The host is super nice and organized a safari for the four of us. Everything is super clean! Thanks a lot for having us!

Vimanra hotel is by far one of the most beautiful places you can find in udawalawe. Its a small family-run hotel located in a lush and green forest, next to a lake. It was amazing to wake up to the sound of birds and taking a dip in the (very clean) swimming pool. The garden is full of plants and fruit trees such as mangos, papayas and pineapple. There's even a small lake filled with fish. The owners are very very kind and helpful. They booked a safari for us and even made us a very, very good dinner on the day that all shops and restaurants were closed. You'll feel immediately at home and at peace in this place. The family room is huge and the bathroom is very big! Shower and toilet are separated which is very convenient for a group of 3 or 4. If you've been in busy Kandy or galle, then this is the perfect place to calm down and enjoy the beautiful lush nature of Sri Lanka . And not to forget: the beds were very comfy and the rooms have airconditioning

Not sure if it is worth the expense of having the safari company buy the tickets in advance as you have to wait at the entrance anyway. Having said that, we went through very quickly so maybe that is one advantage.

The main attractions seem to be the safaris and the elephant transit home. We'd already done a big safari so we opted for the transit home which we really enjoyed. We attended the 10.30 am feeding time!

The city is great and the lake is beautiful.

The city is great and the lake is beautiful. It is absolutely wonderful, and the elephants are treated well. You are able to see: * 30-40 elephants * A lot of peacocks * Birds * Deer Overall, there is no cruelty. It's a very well-maintained national park that you should absolutely visit. From what I've read, every other national park in Sri Lanka is not very well-maintained or they exploit animals. This one is very well-maintained, and the city itself is great and beautiful. You can easily spend 2-3 days here if you want to. It's a little bliss to be in this city.

Udawalawe National Park is an absolute highlight of any trip...

Udawalawe National Park is an absolute highlight of any trip to Sri Lanka, especially if you're dreaming of close-up encounters with wild elephants! What I liked most: The park is renowned for its large herds of Sri Lankan elephants – we saw over 50, including adorable babies and majestic tuskers bathing and grazing near the massive reservoir. It's often called one of the best places in the world to spot elephants reliably, with far fewer crowds than Yala National Park, giving a more peaceful and intimate safari experience. We also spotted water buffaloes, crocodiles, peacocks, and tons of colorful birds. The vast open landscapes with the reservoir backdrop feel like an African safari but in Asia – stunning views, especially at sunrise or sunset. What wasn't so great: It can get dusty and bumpy on the jeep tracks, so bring a scarf or mask for your face. Some areas feel a bit crowded with jeeps during peak hours, and wildlife sightings (beyond elephants) aren't as varied as in other parks – no leopards here. Tips for future visitors: Book a morning safari (starting around 6 AM) for cooler weather and more active animals. Choose a reputable driver/guide – they make all the difference in spotting hidden wildlife. Visit the nearby Elephant Transit Home for ethical elephant viewing (feeding times are a bonus!). Bring binoculars, sunscreen, water, and snacks. Entry fees are reasonable, but full-day or private tours are worth it for flexibility. Overall, 5 stars – unforgettable and highly recommended for nature lovers!

Very friendly staff gave a warm welcome.

Very friendly staff gave a warm welcome. The welcome coffee was the best time of my life. Not only that, I was surprised because the pool was so clean and beautiful. And another best option is that my friends also went on safari with them so we organized the safari with them. The driver is very friendly and has 10 years of experience. Thank you for everything.

This is a fantastic place to stay when visiting Udawalawe national park. The staff was excellent, and the hotel was a real beauty. A lovely pool made sure we could cool down, and a small balcony outside our room gave us extra space to relax. We would highly recommend booking a safari through this hotel. We went in the afternoon (from 14.00 to 18.00), and we had a great time. Our guide was excellent - so knowledgable and comsiderate. We would also recommend the dinner at the hotel - a superb curry buffet.

Exceptional value for money very near to Udawalawe National Park. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious (and so much food) and the host even woke up at 5 am to provide us with coffee before our safari. The room itself was comfortable and clean with a minibar full of drinks for purchase. I would definitely recommend this hotel!

Good location for Udawalawe national park. This is a family run basic, low cost guesthouse, you can pay extra to eat at the accommodation and it was pretty good Sri Lankan food. They also offer their own safari package and the safari guide was very knowledgeable.
