As an angler Bodo is a wonderful place to catch fish in the city and the fjords surrounding it. The 24 hour summer daylight is amazing and just gives you so much scope to fish all day and all night. we were self catering and shops were always conveniently nearby. I truly loved being there and am allready planning another trip back.

Bodø is a small town, surrounded by the most beautiful landscape of mountains and sea. The old harbour is attractive, with many enjoyable bars and restaurants - Sjøbaren seafood restaurant is ‘a must’! From the harbour, it’s also possible to book a rib and guide to take you to see the white-tailed sea eagles, which are magnificent, and then onto the world’s largest maelstrom. There are stunning walks in the mountains surrounding the town, with views of the many islands close by. A jewel in the crown of Bodø is The Wood Hotel, where you can enjoy 360degree views, high above the town, in the comfort of the lounge, bar and restaurant, with excellent food and wine.

Bodø isnt a common or popular tourist destination for most...

Bodø isnt a common or popular tourist destination for most visitors to Norway but it has a lot to offer, from restaurants, beaches, nature hikes and excursions, northern lights, and of course not to forget Saltstraumen. It is colder than other cities in Norway as it is the windiest city in Norway, so be prepared for that.

We loved our stay in Bodø although we didn’t see much of the city itself. We hiked up Keiservarden, went to the Pust Sauna with a dip in the freezing ocean, went on a moose safari at night and ended our trip with a visit to the Luftfahrtmuseum.

We didn’t stay long so I can’t really give a full review (we were just there one night en route to the Lofoten Islands). However it seemed like a lively port city. Lovely harbour with bars and outside seating and an interesting church.

Bodo has much to offer visitors.

Bodo has much to offer visitors. It has a convenient bus service. If you enjoy hiking and cycling there are many routes in and around the town. Take the 40 minute bus ride to the beautiful pink beach, Mjelle. Take your bicycle on the Moskenes ferry to Lofoten Island for the day. (pedestrians go for free) Don't just limit your visit to the marina. There is much more to see and do in Bodo.

This hotel was fantastic. Beautiful lounge/restaurant with 24hr refreshments available free. Wonderful breakfast. Reception staff were so accommodating. They let my friend, who was non resident leave his luggage there, until his flight. A great help as he's 79! They helped me find the correct bus stop to the airport, instead of the drop off only one outside! We also had early check in, which was greatly appreciated. This is not available if the hotel is full though.

My absolute favourite chain! The room was gorgeous and with a great view of the port (and the snow). Breakfast was delicious and with a great variety of food. I love the free coffee from the reception area and the little convenience store. The location allowed me to walk anywhere in town and it's a few steps from the bus that goes to the airport. The restaurant on the 17th floor is really worth your money and the staff was so kind! Scandic truly never disappoints.

Breakfast offering was one of the best I've seen, complete with freshly made omelettes and pancakes. Everything was tasty and lovely. The hotel was located in an area that was quiet enough, yet it was not far to walk to the harbour or to the mall at the center of Bodø. The common lounge area was nice and roomy. The service personnel were very friendly and helpful.
