Close to town. 17-minute walk from the ferry. Spacious. Very clean. The shower had great water pressure and nice hot water. A beautiful view of the lake from the bedrooms. Comfortable living room to hang out in. Fully equipped kitchen.

I loved this part of Norway most of all.

I loved this part of Norway most of all. The landscape is exquisite and I'd like to explore it in greater depth. We stayed only one night and went dog sledding. So much fun, and meeting the dogs was a highlight.

Small town with great history.

Small town with great history. It revolves around tourist, so thankful that the museum was open on Sunday. As I did not join tours, I find 3 days was more than enough. The tour agency for Russian border stated having tours at in the afternoons however did not approve my request and insist that I book a private tour or join the morning tour (together with the tourists from the cruises). I did not want as my mother just arrived from the cruise after 7 days, and she wants to rest first. I ended up booking a taxi and the price is the same. The taxi driver brought us to both Russian borders (old and new), let us spend time and help us take pictures. The price was standard (NOK1,600) for an hour. What is lacking is probably a tour guide to explain things. But that is OK. Kirkenes has a great view but lack good viewing points (well, I did not find any...). I found a randomly shared viewing point up a hill which was good but not the best. Must visits - Andersgrotta (Daily, 12.30pm tour, NOK300 per person), Borderland Museum, Russian Border, and see the pictures in town by Ellisif Wessel.

There is more to see than you think, particularly if you are...

There is more to see than you think, particularly if you are interested in history. We had a day to see the sites before taking the Hurtigruten Coastal Express to Bergen. We could have used a second day, or at least another half day. You need to be fit and a good walker because it's easier than using the local public transport. Things really worth seeing are the Borderland Museum, Savio Museum, Andersgrotta and Liberation Monument, the Russian Consult General Building and the protest opposite, statues, monuments and the Snowhotel. We had a nice meal at Surf and Turf.

This town is not very inspiring.

This town is not very inspiring. We came off the Hurtigruten Ferry and ended up having 2 full days here, because we had to wait for our transfer to Inari in Finland. It is a bit desolate. Few shops, or choices to eat. Suggest one day, and move on

Small town geared for tourists, so everything is close by.

Small town geared for tourists, so everything is close by. Mall, small grocery store, lots of restaurants and cafes and the taxis and busses all stop at one of the two main hotels (Thon or Scandic). 95% of the activities are at the Snowhotel or are run by the Snowhotel (but quite $$$ as you are in the Arctic). Bring plenty of layers and all your money.

We stayed at the Kirkenes Lodge which is very conveniently...

We stayed at the Kirkenes Lodge which is very conveniently centrally located. Easy walking distance to restaurants and shops. Walking through the neighborhood with very charming homes, kept in very good condition. It had the feeling of home. The war museum is very moving. Don’t miss it.

Modern Apartment in Kirkenes fully conforms to the description. A perfect accommodation for short or longer (fishing) stays. Everything is present and in new condition. Beautiful view over fjord (Northern Lights-Ice Pilars) and mooring Hurtigruten. Supermarket at about 800 meters and center about 1,200 meters (walk) A friendly helpful ambitious host. For me a place I will definitely return to this year.

An excellent location, beautifully carved snow hotel rooms and the huskies. Oh my, the huskies. We so enjoyed just hanging out and cuddling the huskies, as well as going on a hunt for the northern lights by huskie sled.

The hotel owner is very nice. A Chinese restaurant is also managed by him. He also arranged a minibus taking us (10 people) to the airport. There is a common kitchen and washing machines. A Joker supermarket is nearby.

The location is superb. It sits right by the edge of the water and the views are magnificent (my room had the city view) . Breakfast buffet more than substantial. Bus to airport stops in front of hotel.
