What a wonderful stay! I arrived at a horrible hour in the morning from New Zealand and Heita was so accommodating organizing pick up from the airport and drop off for my flight five hours later. Communication was wonderful. I only needed somewhere to rest while in transit. The space was nice and cool and also gorgeous! I wish I could have stayed longer. Heita and her husband were very friendly and suggested some things I could do in the area when I'm back later in my trip. Highly recommend you book with them! I included the photo of the beautiful view from the deck.

We stayed in Papeete for a few days before taking a cruise on the paul Gaugain. We did the 4 hour around the island and then an 8 hour crossing E/W in a 4wheel drive, worth the discomfort Would highly recommend Quinns restaurant good food and offering a show on weekends

Very relaxing and the French joie de vivre made for a lovely holiday. The sunsets were stunning, the scenery behind the ville was amazing and breathtaking. My go-to favourite choice for great live entertainment, friendly welcoming staff, wonderful food and all-round fantastic nights was the 3 Brasseurs, across the road from my hotel and facing the waterfront marina. I do recommend the Museum of Tahiti and her Islands, it was extremely interesting and beautiful, although it was further away than I thought it would be. The shopping was good fun too.

I was not keen on Papeete.

I was not keen on Papeete. Not what I had in mind for a trip to Tahiti. But only a 50+/- minutes away by ferry is Moorea island which is fantastic with white sandy beaches (sand from worn down coral making it a bit sharp on the feet so wear rubber swimming shoes). Very kind and pleasant people and beautiful lagoons. Lots of snorkling and scuba and even sail boarding. By contrast, Papeete tends to have what are called "black sand beaches" which comes from sand made from lava that are actually more of a dirty dark brown. Not appealing to us even though there were plenty of people who loved the beaches and the water.

I took a day trip 4x4 Jungle/River excursion with "Te Mana"...

I took a day trip 4x4 Jungle/River excursion with "Te Mana" company and I really liked it. I recommend taking such a tour to see the beautiful inland of the Tahiti Nui. The waterfront "Marina" in the downtown Papeete is really nice. You can walk on the promenade next to the water for a good hour, and observe locals walking, having picnics, playing sports, reading.. The park is beautiful and bustling with life. At night there are food stands.

The city of Papeete is not as beautiful as the rest of the...

The city of Papeete is not as beautiful as the rest of the island, but people are very friendly, and while there are several people who slept on the street, they kept to themselves. We walked around early in the morning and after dark without incidence. The park along the harbor front is beautiful! There is a nice market and lots of restaurants you can walk to. It is helpful to know a little bit of French. While English is widely spoken, there aren't as many people fluent English as you would find in other parts of the French-speaking world. We enjoyed great food at the area restaurants. We took a taxi to the Intercontinental Hotel for a great snorkeling excursion through Activiseas. The traffic is very heavy here, and people like to drive fast, but they are polite about letting you cross the street at crosswalks.

I was in Papeete for a Sunday, between flights, and enjoyed:

I was in Papeete for a Sunday, between flights, and enjoyed: - The market: open 7-9am, but longer hours and more stalls are open on other days (5 minute walk) - Museum of Tahiti and The Islands (15 minute taxi) Most of Papeete is shut on a Sunday so I would have liked to go to Mo'orea (45 mins by fast ferry). I would have done that if I'd been aware of the fast connection!

The proximity to the ferry terminal was excellent The taxi ride from the airport to the hotel was quite quick (cash only) The staff were friendly and helpful and responded quickly to my email enquiry a few weeks before our arrival The bed was comfortable and welcoming after our late evening long haul arrival The A/C worked well & drowned out any noise from the bars outside (re. complaints from other reviewers)

Great swimming pool, spacious rooms, even with two queensize beds if available, location close to Papeete, airport and the harbour, helpful staff, lovely and large entrance to the hotel and lobby. The location and position of the lobby, like more good spaces in Papeete allows a pleasant sea breeze to go through it. A Carrefour supermarket easily walked to by a bridge crossing the road.

Great location - not far to walk to restaurants, supermarkets, and other attractions in Papeete. Hosts were A++ and kindly met us at the ferry terminal and kindly dropped us off at the airport early morning - really kind! Good communication with the hosts! Accommodation was well equipped, very clean, and a comfortable place to be.

I’ve stayed here now on several occasions, it’s the best value place in town & better than some of the cheaper hotels. It’s everything you’d expect from a backpackers hostel. It’s in the best location in town opposite side of the road from the food trucks & close to the Moorea ferry terminal, bars and restaurants.
