This is a great hotel. It's extremely clean and comfortable, the rooms are very modern, it's in a nice quiet location (which was especially good for us after spending time in noisy apartments in Lisbon and Porto), and the breakfast is great with regards to variety, quality and taste. Plus, the Owner Fernando couldn't be nicer or more helpful. (I had to print a bunch of tickets to attractions we were going to in Spain and told him I would pay for the service, and after doing it for me he wouldn't accept any money.) It's a great place to stay and we highly recommend it!

Braganca is a wonderful town. This hotel was delightful. We had a corner room with fabulous views of the valley. Easy walk to the Citadel and restaurants. Excellent bedding and breakfast. Best value on our 3-week trip.

Room was very comfortable, modern and very clean. Dinner in the hotel restaurant was delicious and very reasonably priced. The gentleman who was on reception when we arrived was so helpful - he spoke English which was good as I can't speak Portuguese. The number entry code for the building and the room was the same , no need for a key or key card. Plenty of off road parking. Located in a pretty village just outside Braganza.

I visited Braganca for a workshop at IPB. The university is impressive! I loved my visit to the Castle, and also walking around in the city centre streets. The city is a mix of good (churches, museums), but also not maintained in many places. I was not really impressed with the Port or wine, I bought, perhaps I just did not know what to choose. The liquer, bought at Merrian, was very good. I was able to buy quite a few nice gifts (mostly pretty table cloths), which were not very expensive, and of very good quality.

Braganca is truly beautiful.

Braganca is truly beautiful. Take a walk along the river and up to.the castle and you will see a lot. We also visited a number of museums, including the silk museum (see the pic below), and historical spots that brought much of the history to life. The nature in May was very green and the scattered red poppies and other grassland flowers among the rolling hills lifted our souls. Our work at IPB University complimented this happy mood, so the synergy between work and town made this a great visit to a beautiful place.

Bustling city with plenty of cafes and eateries, slightly off the usual tourist trail. The Castelo de Braganca was well worth a visit. We thought the prices in the city were very reasonable. Watch out if you are using an old satnav - we were directed up a very steep, narrow street which turned out to be a dead end. The reversing down the cobbles and a 37-point turn were a challenge!

Cute small Pt town with everything one needs. Beautiful castle and old town. Stayed 3 nights and that was just right for seniors. If we were younger 2 nights would have been enough unless you want to daytrip from that location. Only about 2 hours from Braga and less from Guimaraes. Easy drive without much traffic in September. We ate at Solar and at Rosina. Both recommended. Train museum is small, but free, and really nice, next to Lidl. There is also a Castanha/Marron (chestnut) store with everything chestnut and a small free museum downstairs. You can grab a bite to eat too. I had a pastel de castanha (chestnut egg custard tart) and castanha icecream. Both good. we bought some jams and spreads and some gifts for Christmas to bring home.

Braganca has a proud and interesting history actively promoted by local businesses and officials. Unfortunately we arrived late on Saturday and left Monday so couldn’t explore the shopping scene. So we explored the surrounding national parks. Local cuisine is proudly meat based with very generous portions!

Very clean and welcoming house and rooms. Warm even in winter thanks to central heating. Kitchen available for meals and enough dishes for all occupants. Big dining room and den. Big parking spots and easily accessible by car. Close to Bragança.
