PortugalExceptional value, the room was huge, spacious, and a nice view. The hotel is brand new, so it's squeaky clean. The shower was heavenly. The beds and cotton linens very comfortable. The staff went above and beyond the call of duty and their guest service skills were excellent. They even lent me a vacuum cleaner to clean my car right at the front door! Now that is a good example of top guest service.

The antiques and touches like homemade soap, bespoke lamps in the downstairs room, lavender wand on the radiators to fill the air with good smells, so many personal details! Vila Velha de Ródão is a small village near Castelo Branco, with a splendid natural landscape (Portas de Ródão
), bathed by the Tagus River. Very friendly and affable people and good traditional food.
If you have the chance, take a boat trip on the Tagus River and enjoy the beauty of the landscape.
You should also visit Herdade da Urgueira and the restaurant "No meio do Nada".

Our main goal was the boat trip on the Tagus, which we did in spite of the rainy weather. That was really amazing. Vila Portuguesa owns the hotel, the restaurant by the river and the boats for the boat tours. Everything was just perfect: a very tasty lunch at the restaurant, a fantastic boat trip along the river and a nice and comfortable night at the hotel, with a very good breakfast with river view. The bedroom was fine for a 3 star hotel. I recommend that you book parking in advance, as there aren't many places. We ended up parking by the side of the road, no problem. There are many beautiful places around deserving a visit. Alamal, Nisa, etc, etc.

Vila Valha de Rodao is situated on the Tagus River and has a pleasant riverside marina area with a couple of restaurants, boat hire facilities and a Bateau Mouche for romantic cruises. It is very well situated in the centre of Portugal giving easy access to the beautiful Sierra de Estrella, the upper Tagus valley and towns such as Coimbra with it's major Roman heritage are within easy reach. It is, however a bit of an industrial centre for the production of paper and, worse, cellulose. The conversion of wood pulp to cellulose is a smelly process and when the wind is wrong, the town gets the pong! There are limited choices for eating, but the two we found were perfectly acceptable, one by the river and one in the town proper.

The food at the hotel restaurant was absolutely amazing!
The breakfast was good and the staff friendly, rooms were modern, clean and well equipped, and importantly for us, there was plenty of free parking. Both rooms had a large balcony with a mechanical blind, which fully blocked light during the night. There is a large pool and space for sunbathing in the inner yard (not open during winter though).

Beautiful Property tastefully designed, cosy room and very comfortable bed. Have lovely welcoming amenities in a room, which you would might only get in 4* hotels. The owners are absolutely amazing - very warm, friendly , helpful. They def take very good care of the property and the guests - thanks a million ! We had such an amazing stay❤️ Outdoor swimming pool is huge plus as well.

Basic hotel on a busy road. We had a suite which was very spacious & well appointed. The breakfast buffet was OK, usual ham, cheese & bread. The swimming pool is a good amenity but not very deep. The hotel is handy for access to the beautiful Tagus river with boat trips available.

Very mordern hotel with all the facilities, exceptional view on the Tejo and Portas do Rodoa. Free entrance for the (muncipal, public) swimming pool. The restaurant is also good and cheap. The staff is very helpful and warm.
