Bäckaskog Slott is beautifully located between the lakes Oppmannasjön and Ivösjön. A monastery was built here in the 13th century and was later converted in to a castle in the 17th century.

Spectacular historic building in lovely grounds set between two lakes. The rooms within the slott (castle in Swedish) itself are full of period furniture and very atmospheric - this includes the bar, restaurant and state rooms where you can relax with a drink if you are a guest - it was a first to be able to relax in furniture used by a former king of Sweden, rather than it being roped off as furniture usually is in stately homes. The staff were delightful - charming, helpful and not at all stuffy, and the food in the restaurant was absolutely first rate. Our room was in the Mill, one of the outbuildings a couple of minutes of walk from the slott. The room was fine, modern and well furnished, but nothing out of the ordinary. Some great walks close by on Ivo island.

This was such a charming historic hotel and owner Ken is super helpful, friendly and fun to talk to. (I might be biased, since we're both North Americans!) The location is perfect and I loved the homey, funky feel. We cycled around town and out beyond the GORGEOUS bridge. Loved it!

Location in the centre of a small town. Excellent wifi. Large free car park in the courtyard of the hotel. Rooms are small but comfortable. Nearest supermarket 7 minutes by car. Breakfast from 6:30am (convenient for work). Not a big variety, but all tasty. The restaurant in the hotel is open until 20:00. The food is all typical for Sweden and of good quality. There is a pizza and kebab restaurant nearby. The staff are very friendly and help with absolutely everything. Even thought about getting married :)

Older, but good, although more of a business hotel. It is excellent for accommodation on the road. I don't remember the bathroom, it was probably sufficient, comfortable bed. In the hallway there is a sitting area with a fridge and a small kitchenette. Parking in front of the hotel in its own parking lot. Good breakfast. Pleasant center of a small town with a lake nearby.
