This place is wonderful! The host is very welcoming and friendly. The area where it is located has a few breakfast, dinner, and bar spots in walking distance, very convenient. And there is a beautiful view of the water, perfect to see the sunrise.

A great homestay. Stella was awesome, and told us where everything was, helped us rent a car and return it and brought me a shirt to the ferry that I had forgotten in the room! Easy to get to from the ferry terminal and friendly kitty and shiba dog for company. Quiet and peaceful, may want to bring eye mask for lights at night.

The auntie whose home we stayed at was very warm and welcoming. She explained where to go and what to do. We communicated in Mandarin, although she speaks a few words of English as well. They picked us up from the ferry station. Communication prior to the stay was clear -- they are upfront that they don't provide towels, and they strongly advise you bring all the cash you need because there are only two ATMs on the island and they don't work with foreign cards. The auntie was very helpful in helping us get a rental car -- you will need a car or scooter to get around on the island. Our room had a sea view, and had air conditioning. She cooked us breakfast (essentially, toast and bacon).

Great value, the staff were super nice! They offered to take our luggage to the port on the last day while we went to return the scooter, which was very considerate. I stayed in the backpacker room, the beds were comfortable. The bathroom was frugal but clean. The location is just great and the whole place has a great vibe. Thank you for a lovely stay!

Unfortunately, we can only rate this place as a 3 and not recommend it until they fix some discrepancies. The reason this wasn't a lower rating is because of the amenities they also offer. Pros: A/C is excellent and looks new for room #1. The hot water is next level! Be careful it comes out boiling hot! There is a dehumidifier in the room. Ice machine and some snacks/small meals are available for a price. Coffee machine and coffee with free bread for toast but the bread seems to run out quickly when the place is full. Early birds get the bread. Cons: Overall the place is a bit run down and needs some maintenance. There's visible rust in places along with visible broken items such as door seals, dirty water filter, etc. Bugs!! If you like bugs, the place is full of ants, small bettle looking creatures, mosquitoes and other critters that will crawl on your face in the middle of the night. Because of the insects there's also geckos! Did you know they can be very loud at night? Their chirping noise is unmistakable at 0200. Speaking of 0200, there's a dog that sounds like he's right outside the window of unit one that will start barking and not stop for at least 30 minutes. Not a peep during the day, but will bark all flipping night. The beds... hands down they are the worst excuse for a bed I've ever encountered in world. These would be perfect for jail cells but nothing more. They're like sleeping on bricks covered with sheets. I had constant back pain while we were here with nothing but sleepless night. Lucky for me my wife was able to rub my back daily for some relief. When we asked the house boy for an extra comforter so that we would be more comfortable he offered us a thin sheet for 100 ntd. 🤦🏻‍♂️ This Hometel does not offer pickup or drop off services to the airport or port. I saw a previous Google review that said they did but it must be old. They do not.
