Harbor Inn in Algoma was wonderful. The location is perfect. Water view with bar/restaurant with live music right across the street. An amazing bakery and deli is within easy walking distance. The room was immaculate. Everyone I encountered from front desk check in to housekeeping on check out were friendly, kind and willing to go the extra mile to make an excellent travel experience.

Great location. Walking distance to many fine establishments and, of course, the beach. Very friendly locals. Good food just a block away. The bathrooms were outfitted with more amenities and comforts than expected, including towels, shampoo, and other items you may have forgotten. Owners have everything very well set up for whatever adventure we are on.

That the hotel upgraded us to a room with a whirlpool because the whole reason we chose this hotel was for the hot tub and it wasn't working.

We stopped at Millie's downtown and had a yummy cheeseburger and the staff made you feel like family. Be sure to stop at the bakery and coffee shop located on the curve going toward Sturgeon Bay. And if it's Wednesday night dinner you're looking for try Moe's Corner for their 4 PC chicken dinner with potato and coleslaw for $8.

Algoma is a lovely little city.

Algoma is a lovely little city. There's a walking ramp down by the shore or you can walk on the beach and wade into the lake. There are lots of restaurants and little shops downtown, very walkable. People are very nice and friendly. Overall a great place to visit, highly recommend.

We enjoyed our visit to the Von Steel Winery and Distillery in Algoma. We also had a spectacular meal at Skaliwags (we splurged, but the food was definitely worth the cost), and the Root Beer Old Fashioned was great! The Ice Age Trail brought us to Algoma initially. We are looking forward to visiting again.

Algoma's a nice, quiet little town with easy access to Door...

Algoma's a nice, quiet little town with easy access to Door County and the surrounding countryside of northern Kewaunee County. Algoma has some decent places to eat, although for dinner most are "bar & grill" type establishments. Captain's Galley Room and Dairy Dean's are great breakfast destinations.

Beautiful beach and Marina.

Beautiful beach and Marina. Smashed on the Rocks bar has the best Bloody Mary's and live music on Saturday's and Sunday's. Dairy Dean's Diner has great food. It is located just off the beach.

The staff was great.

The staff was great. We stayed to tour the finger, and hoped to do Washington Island. If you plan ro go to Washington Island be sure to head out early. The ferry runs every hour and for 2 people with a car it's about $58. I wanted to go to the Lighthouse on the smaller island, but that ferry only runs every 2 hours. Just mind your time.

The River Hills Motel is a very modern and comfortable stay and I would highly recommend it. Grace and the team at River Mills communicated our check in and were on hand around the clock. They were very helpful and friendly and set the tone for the stay - you guys are brilliant! The rooms are modern, clean and cosy and it was a very welcome stay on our road trip. This motel is a fantastic asset to Algoma and well worth your time.

It was a fairly short walk to downtown Algoma. We enjoyed being able to sit on the chairs on the porch in front of our room but they were plastic and a bit flimsy. Liked the automat-style check-in. Very handy and easy.
