We have relatives that live in Americus so we travel there about once or twice a year. For the past few times, we have stayed at the Windsor. It is a very comfortable, beautiful and historic place to stay. It is also so close to some great places to eat and shop such as The Maze (love this shop!), The 1800 Restaurant (great Mexican food!) The Scoop Ice Cream Shop (with sugar-free options) The Gyro Restaurant (with the amazing tea) and The Donut Shop.

Lovely historic small town.

Lovely historic small town. I came to Americus for an event at the nearby Andersonville National Historic Site, and I also visited Plains. I would have liked to have had some time in my schedule to visit some of the cute shops downtown but that will have to wait for my next visit. I had breakfast at the Windsor Hotel all three mornings of my visit and it was great food at a surprisingly low price. My group and I ate dinner twice at The Station restaurant across the street from the hotel - food was fabulous (I had the red snapper both nights but the others in my group uniformly thought their meals were great as well). I also appreciated the convenient free parking downtown.

The hotel itself is stunning, with its beautiful Victorian architecture and vintage feel. The rooms were spacious, well-appointed, and had all the amenities I needed. The bed was comfortable, and I got a great night’s sleep! Plus, the decor was classic and added to the overall ambiance.

Being a frequent traveler when we are in the area we always stop off in Plains for a sandwich at the Buffalo Cafe and some peanut butter ice cream. We also choose the Days Inn for the comfort and convenience before traveling on. It is a wonderful peaceful part of Georgia with great back roads to travel on. Off the main roads there are endless cotton fields, pecan groves, farms and corn fields. Surprisingly there is a phone history museum in the area with a great old automobile museum in the back of it.

We stayed in Americus because we were visiting the Andersonville Civil War prison site and Plains, Georgia, and it was the only local town offering overnight accommodations. Other-than-that we would not have been in Americus.

The bathroom was antiquated.

The bathroom was antiquated. Even had initials scratched in the wall. Small toilet, too low to the ground, looked like an elementary school reject. They advertised on your site that the pool was open, yet the Health Department has it closed. Altogether unsatisfactory

This older property has been recently updated, is a good value with friendly people, a nice campus, and a tasty breakfast. We will stay here next time we are in the area. They are also pet friendly which is a huge bonus!

Awful and unclean. It felt like a motel with a hotel price. This place should come with an unsanitary warning label. Never again!
