What Guests Said About Clarksdale:

Driving to St Louis we stopped on our way up and back.

Driving to St Louis we stopped on our way up and back. The Ground Zero, Matchbox, and Hambone (apparently only open on Tuesday) had excellent blues. Yazoo Pass Restaurant had exceptionally good food as well as friendly and efficient service. Townspeople were engaging. The Hambone Gallery has some incredible pieces by artist and musician Stan Street. Stan was also a delight to spend time with. We’ll be back.

We enjoyed Clarksdale immensely.

We enjoyed Clarksdale immensely. It was a great place to stay as we explored the Blues Trail in the area. We were able to enjoy live music and the small town vibe. I highly recommend the Stone Pony for meals. Delicious food and friendly people. The location was great as it was centrally located for our excursions to find historic music and historical landmarks in the area. In every small town we visited in the area people were super friendly and always willing to give directions (our GPS didn't always work).

We didn’t really know what to expect - was it hype or was Clarksdale really a place where you could hear great music? We weren’t disappointed. Actually more good music than we could take in. And uncommon hospitality. Good food at the Yazoo Pass Restaurant. Or - if something’s going on at the Ground Zero Blues Club, amazing crawfish out in the parking lot. The Delta Blues Museum, housed in the old railroad depot, is definitely worth a visit. Blues with your breakfast at the Bluesberry Cafe. And up close and personal at Red’s, one of the few remaining “authentic” juke joints in the Mississippi Delta. All of it within about a ten-block area. Don’t let the run-down appearance of the place alarm you - if you love the blues you’ll love Clarksdale.

Clarksdale has a ton of potential.

Clarksdale has a ton of potential. We found it frustrating that we were there for a supposed big music festival and restaurants were out of food early. There did not seem to be enough prep on the part of the facilities to handle the few more people there as the festival has not gained traction yet to be something where massive crowds are an issue.

I loved the town; I have been there many times.

I loved the town; I have been there many times. Good food and music in the bistro district. I recommend Blues Berry Cafe, Red’s, Ground Zero, Hambone’s, the Blues Museum. We commuted to Helena’s King Biscuit Blues Festival Friday and Saturday. I will never stay at America’s Best Value again. We cut our stay short due to our discomfort with the room. There are better places to stay if you plan ahead
