America's Best is the hotel I stay at, every time I come to Columbus Texas. The room is always clean. The bed is very comfortable. The air conditioner, heater works well, and the staff is very friendly and attentive, and it is reasonably priced.

We were unable to stay in Schulenberg for a wedding due to...

We were unable to stay in Schulenberg for a wedding due to short notice and high demand from other area events. On a whim we headed into "downtown" Columbus and really enjoyed the historical homes, the wonderful little Kay Klauber Candies ( the owner is such a gem) & Hound Song brewery that was just awesome. Found Schobels restaurant for breakfast buffet that is delicious and hard to beat the price. Nancy's steak house was nice though get spoiled surrounded in Houston.

When I made the reservations there was only a room with 2 beds available... When I got to the hotel a very kind gentleman at the front desk asked me if I needed a room with 2 beds or with just a king size bed. I said I'd prefer the king size bed and he said one just came up available. So he gave me that room with the king size bed 😊 He also told me he saw my first Google report on them and thanked me 😁

The Hotel was exceptionally clean, even the corners! The staff was so friendly and asked often if we needed anything. Gave us great recommendations for restaurants near the hotel. I have not had a super stay like this for months at other hotels traveling this past year. This really reestablished my confidence in an affordable hotel stay!

On Monday evening Jan 13 2025 at Columbus TX Holiday Inn Express, the check-in desk clerk was very friendly, helpful, and accommodating. This was in stark contrast to the morning check-out desk clerk, who abruptly refused to give us a printed payment receipt for our stay.

We arrived quite late, so we weren't there very long. But the hotel is close to the highway and to a few fastfood restaurants. So an excellent stay for just sleeping. Breakfast, was delicious
