We booked this trip to see the Redwood Forest and to see and experience the Pacific Ocean. We even got to tour the lighthouse and drive through a giant redwood tree. Crescent City was the best place to stay to explore. It takes a while to get used to the layout of the city but it’s not hard to navigate. There are plenty of places in the city to eat. We did not go hungry.

I love the beach!

I love the beach! We were able to see the lighthouse before high tide. My grandson played on the beach building structures with driftwood. Many agates at the beach and we found a gumboot chiton (look it up). 3 miles from Trees of Mystery and short distance to a couple other beaches, one we saw seals swimming next to the shore.

Crescent City is growing on us.

Crescent City is growing on us. This is and will be a repeat stop. Their beach park, lighthouse and coastal road are very nice. The Elk Valley casino has the best gas prices along Northern US 101. There is an impressive redwood grove (Stout) hidden behind the town. Regrettably, the fresh fish market at the harbor has closed, but there are several decent eateries and bars around town.

The ocean views are wonderful.

The ocean views are wonderful. Some of the homes are interesting to view. We loved all the elk that are enjoying the green fields next to the Elk Valley Casino, which has some neat indian art displays. The fish at the Fishermans Restaurant is some of the best ever.

Crescent City is a clean coastal town.

Crescent City is a clean coastal town. I recall visiting the aquarium there many years ago and it was quite a hit with the family. Unfortunately, there wasn't enough time to see it again on this trip.

I've always chose crescent city over other places.

I've always chose crescent city over other places. Just wish it had better accomadations for dining and more options on food choices. Its a fun place to go but a very long trip for my family. Park was clean except for restrooms...lot of beach access which is nice. Wish the fishing laws were posted so you dont have to find someone who knows...there was a dead sea lion at the harbor that smelt horrible. Not as many hanging out th thete like all other years. Brookings is close by and has stores to shop at. Need to follow the site so i know when car shows and such are there. I will go back... Trees of mystery is not far away. Go there every year too. Need a place that sells smoked salmon "in" crescent City...that would be nice. Ocean world is nice to shop.

The room was lovely, very spacious two comfortable chairs. The reason I scored it so low is as soon as we entered the room the smell of smoke was horrendous. We went back to reception but there were no other rooms available. Neither of us smoke so we were very aware of how strong it was. We left the window open but it was still really strong the next morning, it was the first thing I noticed when I woke up. This hotel would have scored really highly if it had not been for the smell of smoke which ruined the stay for us.

I absolutely loved my stay at this motel - it’s in a dream location and was incredible value for money. The staff were great and helped us make the most of our short stay by guiding us through the best walking routes. We finished off our day drinking beer by the fire pit.

Conveniently located next to Highway 101. The rooms are well organized (no walking next to bedroom like in most motels) and well maintained. The staff is friendly but not always helpful.
