An unassuming yet charming spot in Texas, famous for one...
An unassuming yet charming spot in Texas, famous for one thing. We noticed a great deal of pride in the town history and preservation efforts that added to the charm and interest of the place. There area some real gems to be discovered in the town and nearby. Alcalde Hotel staff pointed us toward the San Antonio Distillery which became a high point of our visit with amazing home distilled rum and some of the best interior Mexican food we've ever experienced (and we've had a lot). Also the Come & Crepe it serves world-class crepes (croissants not from Paris) and fabulous coffee. Up the road is the Ottine Mineral Springs resort, which is unique and well worthwhile to visit and soak. There were a few restaurants we did not get to try but will on the return.

This was my second stay, and I really enjoyed each time.
This was my second stay, and I really enjoyed each time. The rooms were clean, the staff was very polite, and the breakfast was good, very good location and easy access to restaurant, stores, Walmart and HEB. I would highly recommend this hotel and would definitely stay here again.

Gonzales is a charming town.
Gonzales is a charming town. I was a vendor at the Come and Take It celebration, and would highly recommend Gonzales as a destination for anyone interested in Texas history. The Chamber of Commerce is very helpful and provides recommendations for travelers based on their interest. The Jail Museum Director was also helpful and is very knowledgeable about the area. The Come and Take It Celebration was a great event, and had activities to meet everyone’s interest!!

Wonderful town, typical of south central Texas.
Wonderful town, typical of south central Texas. My favorite restaurants were the Stock Yard (especially for breakfast) and a delightful TexMex restaurant in town center. The mariachi music on Friday evening was a pleasant surprise. Love this town!!

Nothing. This Hotel called and canceled on us the day of trip at 1pm as we were leaving for a 5 hour drive. Then, it took over 2 weeks, and 3 phone calls to get my money refunded. Every time I called, she was ABOUT to refund my money. I will never book here again. I understand plumbing issues and really bad luck, but I don't understand keeping my money 2 weeks.

I have been here several times. The pool says it's open but the owner hoovers over us until we got out. We won't stay again. We are here to see family and if any family member comes to see us the owner bird dogs us the entire time. They don't do that at Holiday Inn.

Staff was very accommodating and courteous, it appears the facility is undergoing remodeling at the time but it is still very clean, the bed was comfortable and the window area has a seating area. I definitely recommend this hotel.

The ambience and the history were wonderful. Well manicured grounds, superb staff and wonderful breakfast. Also enjoyed the breakfast conversation with other guests. Gonzales is a very historic town with lots of historic homes

Didn’t have the breakfast, the view was ok, they were building in the lot next to the hotel, and the highway was directly in front of the hotel, so it wasn’t much to see.
