United StatesThe staff were warm and welcoming as soon as I stepped in the door. My room was clean and comfortable, and I had a great night's sleep. It's a very quiet location, which is great. Check out was seamless. I honestly felt more taken care of here than my hotel in NYC!

We were passing through on the way home and thought we'd pay...
We were passing through on the way home and thought we'd pay a little more for this B&B based on good experiences at other B&Bs. It was not worth the money we paid. We visited the Altoona Curve historic site and the Curve baseball game while we were there. Both good experiences but I wish we opted for one of the chain hotels.

The town is charming and compact, 5 minutes away from Altoona and an easy 40-minute drive from State College/Penn State. We had a wonderful dinner at The Mayfield, a restaurant located in a historic hotel just 4 blocks from Allegheny Street B&B. There were several shops in and around the town square, including gift shops and art galleries. The county courthouse is a magnificent structure (we ended up taking quite a few photos of it). If you are in the area because of something happening at Penn State or in Altoona, we highly recommend staying in Hollidaysburg due to its proximity, charm and lower-priced accommodations.

Hollidaysburg was like a trip back to yesteryear.
Hollidaysburg was like a trip back to yesteryear. Beautiful old homes, shaded streets, calm, peaceful, and just a delight to be in. I ate at a restaurant called The Dream. It was an upscale family restaurant with home cooking that was exceptionally good. I saw no children there but I am certain they would enjoy and be comfortable. The staff was wonderful. The restaurant was exceptionally clean. I was told there was a more upscale restaurant at a hotel. However, this was perfect after a long days drive. The peacefulness of the town is worth driving away from the interstate.
