We really enjoyed this city—it is quiet, peaceful, and cozy. The historical architecture here has been preserved magnificently. The city boasts a multitude of museums and historical attractions. We visited the Automobile Museum and the Elms Museum. We thoroughly enjoyed strolling through the city and the Cliff Walk. As for restaurants, we can recommend Bowen’s—they serve magnificent seafood. However, we do not recommend visiting the Brick Alley Pub: we ordered lobster rolls and shrimp there, but these dishes consisted predominantly of mashed potatoes.

Several of the Preservation Society's properties were closed for the filming of "The Gilded Age" HBO series. Local dining establishments were great, specifically Caliente Mexican and I M Sushi. Great appetizers at The Moorings. Many of the walking paths on Bellevue and the side streets were in a wretched state, with potholes, big tree roots, an loose asphalt.

Lovely guest house-type hotel in a good location a few streets back from the waterfront. We had a king room which was a large bedroom with a sitting area - both lovely and great amount of space. Small breakfast selection in the morning which we opted not to use. Lovely property but definitely pricey for what it is - paint could do with refreshing in places too. That said, we enjoyed our stay and we’re glad to have chosen the Attwater for our time in Newport.

Facilities - only wish the weather was better to enjoy more time in the outdoor areas. The room was lovely - spacious & spotlessly clean. Breakfast - great choice, tasty & fresh. Location - a nice 15 minute walk along the water into the heart of Newport or alternatively a shuttle running every 30 minutes
