United KingdomYou cannot understate how impressive this place is. The rooms are HUGE and amazingly well equipped. The building was a former school and each classroom is now a room to stay in - so they are huge (and each has its own nice bathroom too). Two huge beds, sofas and seating areas, and loads of interesting stuff. The owners have also made a great job of preserving the history of the school, and the area, and you could spend a day just looking around the room and the rest of the building, to learn about the local history.
Breakfast was amazing too. See the photos. We normally skip hotel breakfast, but had to make an exception here. I was drinking tea - I even got to choose which teapot I had (there were lots of fun choices, mine was shaped like an elephant!)
Ogdensburg is a really lovely place too - great parks, great ice cream shop, and a lot of history that I knew nothing about beforehand. And its a good base to visit various things from as well.
Incredible job, a total and very pleasurable surprise. We even changed our schedule to stay an extra night.

Ogdensburg is the home of the Fredrick Remington Museum , which is well worth visiting if you like painting and sculpture. The town is located on the south shore of the St Lawrence seaway, which is very scenic and near a bridge to Canada. I was on my way to Quebec City, and stopping in Ogdensburg to visit the museum was well worth the time.

Ogdensburg is strategically located if you need accommodations for Canton and Potsdam given that the two towns have four universities between them. But it's also just across the border from Ontario Canada with short drives to Ottawa, Upper Canada Village, Kingston and Montreal.

The Sherman Inn was incredible, Jim, the owner, gave us a tour of the old “school building” when we got there, so much history in the building, every room was spectacular!! His wife Donna cooked an amazing breakfast, and she was also behind the decor of all the room's. Will definitely stay again !!

This is an actual school converted into a B&B, and each classroom is now a room, resulting in huge, and finely decorated, hotel rooms. Kids also have a huge playroom and a swimming pool to play in.

The breakfast was nice, of course. The view from the hotel for St. Lawrence River was very beautiful. The hotel room was very friendly to me, because it gave me a friendly feeling to nature.
