Rodanthe is quiet, relaxing beach community with very little tourism. Just a few local shops and a convenience stores. Best place to shop is Waves Market. Lots of great food and options to fill the fridge and cupboards. Great beach to walk in the morning and watch the sunrise. Dogs can run freely and enjoy the water.

Visiting in October ensured perfect weather and wide-open beaches. Many of the shops and restaurants had already closed for the season but they looked nice. I enjoyed the location in that it was close to great hiking and birding on Pea Island, Cape Hatteras and Roanoke Island. The beach itself was very nice with a cute fishing pier.
