The location is excellent - a 10 minute walk to the commuter rail station - and plenty of place to eat and visit along the way. The breakfast was fresh and plentiful. The room was clean and spacious and I loved the LG TV - easy to use with the remote and with my phone. The shower, shampoo, body wash, conditioner, and lotion - all very good. Great water pressure too. Easy to control thermostat on the wall. Keurig coffee and tea bags available in the room at no cost. Love it. Hot coffee and tea always available in the lobby.

Location! History! and Amazing Staff. We were so thrilled to stay at the Merchant for the proximity to everything. And how cool to stay in one of the well known historical buildings in all of Salem!! I cannot speak more highly of the staff who were so attentive and helpful pre-arrival and then through our stay. They are not on site in the evenings (after 5pm) and there are not elevators if that's something you require.

Such a fun mix of museums, history, small shops, good food,...

Such a fun mix of museums, history, small shops, good food, and waterfront access. We loved how walkable and easy to get around it was. Be warned that if you're here off season (we were) a lot of things are closed in the middle of the week, we got a bit caught off guard by that. If you come during peak season (October), prepare for enormous crowds.

Salem has a lot of history.

Salem has a lot of history. Sift through the witch trial research for fiction/non-fiction. Very safe and walkable. Excellent restaurants and lovely wharf area! The Peabody Museum is worth it with a good variety of collections and exhibits - not overwhelming for children.

Amazing

Amazing We spent hours walking thru Salem and enjoying the sights and the experiences. We were able to get into Boston easily for that experience as well. The rich history of the area made for interesting conversation and laughter and smiles. The people were mostly amazing friendly I think the tourist were the issue. I would highly recommend Salem as a place to visit. We will definitely go again.

Salem is a great city to spend 24 -72 hours in. I am not a witch (or magic) guy & I still found much to enjoy. The architecture is fantastic. Just review the hours of openings & closings before you come.

We went there specifically to see the town and surrounds.

We went there specifically to see the town and surrounds. Everything we saw was worth it. Very walkable town. But we did do the trolley tour and the guide was very knowledgeable with all the history. Glad we went when we did (april), even though some places weren’t open yet, we still managed to do everything we wanted to do and it wasn’t overly busy. Did a fabulous walking tour called “Dark History of Salem” our guide Danielle was AMAZING!

My friend and I met for the first time in person here and it couldn't have been a better backdrop of us! The location was perfect, the property was well equipped and the interior styling was perfectly on theme for Salem and very tasteful. We would absolutely return and I'll be recommending this property to anyone and everyone I know.
