Kuju Kogen cottage is an onsen resort in the middle of the Kuju mountain range. On the day of check-in, the staff was very kind in allowing us to change the room to a Japanese style tatami room (they had initially given us a western style room). Booking a private hot spring bath room for me and my girlfriend was easy too (50 minutes, with an additional charge). Access to public male and female onsen rooms is included in the room charge. I loved the dinner selection, both the Yakiniku and the Japanese style option. While speaking a little japanese makes things easier, the staff can handle English speaking visitors fairly well. The views from the resort are simply stunning and I feel lucky to have been there.

Absolutely great house in the forest! Everything was very clean and the beds were incredibly comfortable. A little far from town but if you have a car it is perfect. Our unit (C) had two stories with a wrap-around walkway on each level and private sauna. Super peaceful surrounding, you can hear the deer in the forest at night. Just avoid the western route into town since it is very narrow for a vehicle (we had a Fit) and there is a sheer drop right off the side of the road 😬 very exciting.

We recommend strongly this lovely place for big groups and families traveling with car, very close to kurokawa onsen village. Clean, very big, comfortable with scenic view in the forest. We enjoyed with forest view bathtub and barbecue , thank you so much the owners for welcome gifts : snacks, noddles and especially special made sake, we keep its special bottle as a souvenir to remember this place and its owners. Echoes of forest deserves well its name.

This is a wonderfully warm and cozy place to stay. The owners are exceptionally kind, friendly, and always ready to help, which made the experience even more special.
