Everything really, from the friendly conversation ahead of our stay with recommendations where to eat after arriving on the North Island by ferry to pre-heating the cottage so it would be comfortably warm upon our arrival. The breakfast was nicely prepared in the cottage for flexibility and meeting different tastes. We also loved the beautiful garden inviting for a stroll and breakfast outside and the magazines where almost anyone would be able to find something interesting we believe :) The owners were very friendly, their cat and chicken too!

Johnny has excellent communication, a well-equipped house, and relaxing scenery with unique touches throughout. I stayed for two nights with my two Shih Tzu dogs and didn’t leave the farm, enjoying the farm animals, birds, and the intriguing sights and sounds, and also spent time reading his book about Renagour, which added to the experience. Fig is super friendly, and a joy. Fresh honey or feed the horses, plenty to explore. Check-in and check-out were straightforward, and it’s an easy drive from Wellington. I will definitely return when I need downtime.

Better than stayiing in a motel, beautiful farmland view across the valley. Hosts had put the heatpump on to warm the place up. Very comfortable bed. All the facilities of home - nothing missing, even a wood-burner stove with plenty of firewood, a washing machine and clothes drier, full electric stove and oven, pots and pans, un-limited hot water (gas-heated), proper bath and a shower (not over bath), 3 bedrooms - 2 double and 3rd having 2 single beds. Just remember it's an older house in the country, so don't expect too much, but excellent for a family - some swings etc. outside. We'll be back.

We travelled for our dog’s very first show weekend, so it was important for us to have a quiet, comfortable place where she could stay calm and relaxed between events. The hosts were incredibly understanding and made sure we had the privacy and space we needed, including an area where we could spend time outside and play with her. The cottage itself was absolutely spotless. We are quite particular when it comes to cleanliness and often find that accommodation does not always meet the same standards we would have at home - but Minnford Cottage was a lovely surprise. It was beautifully clean, tidy, comfortable, and we immediately felt relaxed. Everything had been thoughtfully prepared, and it really felt like a home away from home.
