Cottages in Iloilo City

Everything was terrific. I'm an Australian and I'm very particular when I choose my accomodation. Tricycle will cost you about 60 peso to SM Iloilo and a grab around 80 peso. Smallville is even closer. Coffee shop open till 11 pm and is 3 minutes walk.

The host is so friendly, everything is clean and comfortable! It’s also accessible and very affordable! It feels like home!

From the outside, the house itself has incredible curb appeal. The images used to market this home are fantastic. UNFORTUNATELY, not all that glitters, is gold. The owner needs to get in there and clean NOW!! THIS IS URGENT! You know when cleaning is sort of glossed over until weeks and months go by and before you know it, it’s too late with the grime? This is that place. Ants are everywhere. When you eat, ants! Sit on furniture, ants! Ants on your food in an instant. Ants everywhere and it’s disturbing. Upon close inspection, everything is simply old, broken, dirty, and tattered. Bedding, consisting of ONLY two, thin, tattered, stained, bedsheets per bed, is SUBPAR for this rental price tag. Four, old-style, rickety, box A/C units, cannot keep up with hot weather. A/C in kitchen-living area, barely works. Kitchen items are awful. Bent frying pan with handle falling off during use. Drain plugs broke. Dish drainer was filthy.

I don't even know where to start this review. Fernz was remarkably warm and accommodating. As a local, I kind of know the ins and outs of Iloilo City, but if you are not a local, Fernz is definitely the type of host who would happily assist you and answer your questions. Pre-check-in, he was communicating so well with us. Very responsive. He was also coordinating with his co-host Joseph (super cool human being too!) who personally handed the keys to us upon arrival. They also made sure that we got a parking spot — because it's a residential village with a "first come, first served" basis for car parking. Fernz was easy to reach throughout our whole stay. When we needed something, he knew exactly where we could find it inside his house. He also let us use some of his coffee beans, allowed us to grill outside, and even suggested that we have some bonfire night while chilling! (There is a firepit and a water outlet near it so it's safe). The whole place was indeed cozy and clean. As a nature lover, I loved the sound of the birds in the morning and the forest-like view. I cannot believe that I could get such a peaceful vibe without having to travel far. I LOVED the library, the shower area, the comfy bed, and the well-equipped kitchen! I loved the paintings and the artistic randomness of things in every corner. Fernz is truly an artist — a deep, soulful person. His whole house reflected his personality.
