Hotels in Gamla Stan, Stockholm

We had a wonderful experience staying at this rental and would absolutely return. This was our first visit to Stockholm—traveling as a group of three (my mother, my aunt, and myself)—and the apartment’s location in the heart of Gamla Stan exceeded our expectations. While we had planned to visit Gamla Stan as a must-see attraction, staying directly in this historic neighborhood made our experience even more memorable. The apartment is tucked away down a quiet alley, offering peace and privacy despite being right in the center of a lively, bustling area filled with shops and restaurants. The location was ideal for exploring the rest of the city. We primarily used Uber to get around due to mobility considerations for my mom and aunt, and nothing was more than 15–20 minutes away, even with traffic. If not for those limitations, the city would have been very walkable from this base. The apartment itself was exceptional—charming, spacious, and full of character. You can truly feel the history of the building through its original features, including stone floors and classic wood-and-glass windows. The first floor featured a large dining area that comfortably seats 6–8 people, along with a cozy sitting area, an electric piano, and a well-equipped kitchen stocked with everything needed, including a coffee setup and full cookware. The bathroom was modern and spacious, with generous counter space, a washer/dryer combo, and a large stone shower with its own window and built-in shelves. Upstairs, there was another lounge area with seating and a TV, two large bedrooms, and a loft with a bed—where I slept, and found it both fun and comfortable. Our host was gracious and communicative throughout the stay. Instructions were clear, and at checkout, we appreciated the flexibility to leave our luggage in the entrance hallway for a few hours before heading to the airport. As the host manages the entire building, we felt comfortable and secure doing so. Incredible experience.

The property was nice and clean. The location is excellent. I don’t think I’ve ever stayed at a place before in my life with the location Was this excellent. It’s literally close to every single thing in Stockholm. Wherever you wanna go will not be more than 15 minute walk given this location. The place was clean. It’s not very spacious, but that’s OK. They have a very good system for storage which I really liked it saved me a lot of time. The kitchen was super clean and convenient. If I ever come back to Stockholm, I will stay here.

Unique setting in a small cozy cabin. Free sauna. We stayed on NYE and I can confirm that the upper deck is ideal to watch the fireworks since they come from all sides. David fixed us sandwiches and coffee in the middle of the night! Highly recommended

Comfort, proximity to center of city (little walk away). Food was available in anytime of the day. Nice cozy sauna and a pool. Availability of the bar even on very New Years Eve (without reservations).

Everything from the art and friendly staff to the comfortable bed and best breakfast and bar downstairs. We were sad to go!
