I cannot recommend The Secret Garden enough! This place is truly the heart and soul of Cat Ba, offering the perfect blend of social vibes, comfort, and adventure. From the moment I arrived, I felt welcomed and at home. The rooms are spotless, the beds are spacious, and the overall atmosphere is warm and inviting. The toilets are surprisingly spacious, and the showers are incredibly well-designed with travelers in mind—thoughtful touches that make a big difference. But what really sets this place apart is the incredible staff, especially the manager, Easy. He is the heartbeat of The Secret Garden—always leading by example, never just bossing people around. Whether it’s helping with day-to-day tasks or ensuring everyone from guests to staff is having a great time, Easy’s hands-on approach and positive energy are contagious. He’s someone you’ll remember long after you leave. The hostel is packed with activities that make it impossible to get bored. From daily themed nights (quiz night was my absolute favorite!) to the unique herbal foot bath, there’s always something fun to do. I loved the creative opportunities, like painting a mural for a free stay, and the chance to explore the island while earning free drinks and other perks. The boat tour I booked through the hostel was fantastic—well-organized, reasonably priced, and packed with memorable moments. What’s even better is that booking through the hostel costs the same as anywhere else, whether online or with other operators. Plus, booking through them earned me free drinks, which was a nice bonus! The Secret Garden is more than just a place to stay—it’s a community. It’s the perfect spot to meet fellow travelers, share stories, and create lasting memories. Whether you’re looking to explore, socialize, or try something new, this hostel has it all. Rooms were clean and had an amazing sunrise view.

The host who runs the place is incredibly kind and helpful. He took great care of us and even kept our bags for the whole day after we checked out, which made our last hours in the city so much easier. I would have loved to rate everything five stars, but the guy handling the tours deserves a separate shout-out because he was also great!

well done very flexible. That's a few word describe this place. We come to the hotel early seven in the morning even they don't have the room already, but they still let us check in early in another room without any fee 😁😁😁. The breakfast super fresh and delicious bravo.

The room has a beautiful ocean view, directly facing the sea without any obstructions. The staff are very enthusiastic and extremely charming.

The family that runs this property is very kind, accommodating, and helpful. They answered all our questions and helped us book buses and tours. The breakfast in the morning was quite tasty too. When I had to cancel because I needed to do a visa run they waived the cancellation fee for me after I explained my situation, which was helpful and alleviated some stress. The room itself was clean and bright, with nice AC and bathrooms. The bed was comfy and they provide extra blankets in the closet. Thank you so much!

This is an incredible oasis set right in front of a little valley, with grassland and small ponds and hills with caves. It’s stunning in pictures, but even more breathtaking up close. The view from the pool is surreal, and it’s a treat to dine and drink outside. You’re a few kilometres away from town, which is great for disconnecting from the usual humdrum of shops and tourists. Huy took great care of us, helped book a reasonably priced boat tour, and made us feel right at home. Breakfast and the a la carte dinner of Vietnamese fare were both delicious. If you’re in Cat Ba, this is a great place to stay for a different experience than the usual.

Beautiful and well maintained!

Great stay, perfect to relax for half a day while doing activities in the other half. Room was big, comfortable and very clean. The relaxation area was well equipped.

We were completely shocked about the price of this property, really cheap for sure a nice hotel room which is very spacious for three people and the view is just phenomenal. The staff is THE BEST, i mean it, the young guy working at the reception was literally so friendly and helped us for everything (day trips to ha long, scooter rentals…) I really recommend this place as it’s the best money value hotel.

I had a really nice stay here. The people are very kind and welcoming and were always happy to help with anything I needed. They helped me plan my time in the Cat ba area and gave great recommendations about places to visit. I also rented a motorbike through the hotel for a good price, which made it very easy. I’m glad I chose this one. If I come back to Cat ba, I would definitely stay here again.

We had a really nice experience, room is awesome, bed is comfortable (hard), the place is far from the city centre and we liked it, there are really kind and they make perfect breakfast 🥞🍳

Very impressed by the hostel!!! I booked for one night but ended up staying several nights. It is very clean and spacious. The beds and pillows are super comfortable. Feels like sleeping in clouds haha.. The bathroom is also very clean and comes with the basic toiletries. The breakfast is delicious and the host is amazing!!! She's very friendly and I felt like home the moment I stepped in the hostel. The pool table is one of the best ones I've played on in vietnam. I 100% recommend this hostel!

The rooms- bungalows were beautiful and very comfortable. Excellent breakfast, one of the best in Vietnam. The staff were friendly and informative.

The man at the reception was super helpful with everything we needed. He allowed us to get the room early to shower after the night bus, he booked us a cruise trip and was always attentive to any issue we had.
