This hotel is ideally placed, only a 5 minute walk to the center. There's a bodega across the street with everything you need. The owner, and his wife and family were all very welcoming and kind. They help with whatever you need. The restaurant downstairs is top notch as well.

We had a wonderful experience staying at Casa de Mario. The location is perfect, right on the hiking trail to Gocta waterfall, with a beautiful view of the falls from the property. The village is quiet and peaceful, surrounded by nature. Mario is an exceptional host — he knows everything about the area and made us feel completely at home. He even made us a delicious homemade pizza with a purple corn crust — everything organic and full of flavor. We saw hummingbirds in the garden and many other beautiful birds around the property. It’s a great spot for bird lovers and nature lovers in general. If you’re coming to Cocachimba, don’t hesitate — Casa de Mario is the perfect place to stay!

Set in the mountains in a tiny village with amazing views. The hostess Maria was perfect and served delicious meals at a very reasonable price. Right at the trailhead to Gocta waterfall which is stunning Solar showers,so hot water 24/7,plus an excellent WiFi connection.You wont find a better place.

The bed is comfy and everything was spotless clean. It has hot water with a nice water pressure, there's a balcony and a rooftop area to sit and eat or work and it has a beautiful view. It's located around 10 minutes walk to the center in a safe, quiet neighborhood with some stores and restaurant nearby. Very helpful and friendly host, don't hesitate to ask if you need any advice or help. Definitely recommended to stay here 💯

Cute place, well located next to the main plaza. The staff was super friendly and helpful. Good breakfast, too. They were very accommodating. Highly recommend staying here!

Truly a place upon which we had high expectations; this wonderful Mamaq Tambo Lodge did not disappoint! Finding Cocachimba with spotty cell coverage and incomplete info from downloaded google maps, proved to be difficult as the town of Cocachimba is substantially off the main road ( Hghwy 5). Our host, Carmen couldn’t have been more wonderful , providing needed directions, then meeting us in the village and leading us to the lodge! Despite any difficulty with directions getting there,our experience was not tainted in any way! Our cabin , with its awe inspiring view of surrounding mountains and Gocta Waterfall, was beyond excellent and it had a wonderfully peaceful porch we thoroughly enjoyed after several hard days of touring and trekking . The location is perfect for trekking to Gocta Falls, and not too far from traveling to Kuelap ( one of our most favorite sites in Peru!) We were served deliciously outstanding suppers and breakfasts over our 3 night stay, and climbing to the overlook on the property to watch the sunset is an experience definitely not to be missed!! Carmen and Francesco have done fantastic work of design , building, landscaping and creation of a truly special environment to make guests feel at home in an Andes mountain paradise!! If you’re staying in the Cocachimba area, Mamaq is must stay !!!

It is a hostel in the middle of a very wonderful green land overlooking the valley. Because of the location, do not expect everything to be perfect like in a town hotel. Also, I was a little worried after reading a review complaining about feeling pressured and seeing sick animals, but it is completely untrue. The dogs and cats are reasonably well and most of all loving and loved. Of course they are not home pets, they live in nature and can get occasionally hurt but, as I personally witnessed, promptly looked after by the owner. Richard, the owner, is a passionate person and also loving and sensitive. I can understand that some people from cold climates (different culture) can feel pressured because people in South America are warm and blunt but, being myself from South Europe, I had no problem not only to relate to him but also to tell him to his face what I did not like about the place (the lack of wifi, etc.) and he was just fine with it and we spent good time together in the evening laughing and singing. In short, a beautiful experience.
