My stay was one happy discovery after another. Great location; took a bus from the train station to the center and easily walked the few blocks. Lovely neighborhood, classic old building, beautifully renovated. The bedroom was large and airy with a comfy bed, the bathroom was enormous with a big shower and tub, with a fun, cheery, designer-tile decor. The shared spaces on the ground floor - living/dining room, counter space to eat at while plugged in, and the ktichen - were thoroughly cleaned every day and always pleasant. The kitchen was the best-equipped I've found in months of travels. Lots of basics are furnished - coffee, tea, sugar, salt, etc - and there is plenty of fridge and cabinet space, Quality appliances, and best of all, good cooking equipment, including some stainless steel, and no degraded teflon. It was obvious that the host has a generous and thoughtful approach to setting up these accommodations. Really stands out, among my experiences - even comparing elsewhere in lovely Saumur.

Gracious hosts Helene and Joel, have created a charming oasis in Saumur. You can feel their passion and commitment to quality throughout the property. This historic chateau with it’s well attended rose garden, is nestled in a scenic quiet neighborhood, steps from the Loire River, and an easy walk to the center of town. We stayed 3 nights in the “Josephine;” an impeccably clean and spacious room, with top of the line linens. The bed was luxurious, both large and cozy. French windows overlooked the garden, with a view of the river. We looked forward to their breakfast offerings every morning! Using local organic, farm-to-table ingredients, Helene prepared a filling meal, leaving us very content! I especially enjoyed the goat cheese and homemade apricot jam. As a special treat, Helene served her warm, out of the oven, apple cake to crown our meal…everything was fresh and delicious.

The room was spectacular - large, artistically beautiful, and comfortable. I really wish we could have stayed longer than just the one night... it was that charming! The staff was terrific, as well.

Helpful directions for arrival, free parking, coffee making facilities. A shared kitchen area. Great value for a budget type hotel which was great for a one night stay. Five minute drive to centre of Saumur. Would definitely stay here again.
