Friendly staff and great location. Beach, shrine, botanical garden all within walking distance. Bakeries and restaurants also nearby and easy to access. The room was clean and coming & going was no hassle. Other guests were pleasant as well. Overall, an excellent place to stay while in Miyazaki.

The rooms are large and the bedding is comfortable. It's conveniently located close to a train station and bus stop, so it's easy to leave during the day to explore the Miyazaki area. If you like nature, this place has great atmosphere with shoji doors that open directly to the outside. The building has a lot of character and is great for if you're looking for an authentic, classic-feeling building to stay in. The place is also a campsite and its structure makes it like a cross between staying at an inn and camping. There is proper bedding, electricity, and air conditioning, so maybe a bit closer to a glamping site, but you are right next to nature. I consider this a positive more than a negative, but it's probably a good thing to note before booking. I was wondering how the shared toilet and bath would be, but it was generally nice. The shared toilet isn't limited to those staying inside the building, but includes anyone camping at the place, but there wasn't a lot of competition during my stay, and things were kept clean. The shared bath is a single bath for personal use and people staying on the property take turns using it. It has both a shower and a bath, but everyone pretty much just used the shower during my stay. There isn't a lock on the door, but it's clear when it's in use, so it isn't too awkward. A washing machine is also available for if you have laundry, so it's very convenient.

Very kind and welcoming host. I recommend you take a day tour with him if you can…. Very interesting, things I wouldn’t have seen, otherwise. And see if he’ll cook you a special steak! Remember, it’s a house, not a hotel. Not fancy but very personal.

This is the very best place to stay in Aoshima! It’s so comfortable, clean, beautiful and in the perfect location. The host family is absolutely amazing and so kind and fun, we felt like we were part of the family. It’s walking distance to everything in town, has a great parking spot for a car and the neighborhood is so lovely and quiet. The design and care for the cozy cabin went beyond our expectations and the outdoor space is amazing with a gorgeous mountain view. We even added on two nights to enjoy longer. All of the host’s suggestions were spot on for food and the beach and onsens and historical must sees! We are so grateful and truly hope to return, this is exactly where we would stay over and over again!
