This is an exceptional experience. The owner of KOMINKA guest house went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable. He even went out of his way to pick me up from the train station and dropped me off as well the next day. He took me to his favorite onsen bathhouse. Afterwards He made me dinner and put on a performance with the many different instruments he plays. His english is very good and was able to communicate with me, who knows little to no japanese. If you are looking for a truly authentic mountain japanese experience, I urge you not to miss the opportunity to stay at the KOMINKA guest house while in Japan.

The living room is good, having a bar with it. The hostel is very old and has a nice taste of its original time, and the additional renovations go with it. Even if we have a rainy day and stay indoors there, I guess it will be comfortable.

I often do not leave a review of places I’ve booked, but this accommodation deserves some high recognition, really. The hostel was very very nice. It was very clean and cozy. It was probably the nicest hostel I’ve ever booked. The host was also very kind and nice. Since I came by train from Nagoya to Azumino, the host was kind enough to offer in picking me up and dropping me off at the nearest train station. He also let me drop by at the supermarket to buy my food and dinner, and even gave me some handmade pin that he made himself as a souvenir. One of the highlights of my stay was Gaku, the owner’s dog. ☺️ The burned wood to warm up the place was also a plus. Everything was provided during my stay. It’s a shame that I only stayed there for 1 night. I could literally stay there for a week without ever going out. haha I’d really love to go back if given a chance, but next time maybe in spring!

The house is simply amazing. It's modern, neat, and comfortable. Noteworthy are the strict house rules (probably since it's in a residential district, e.g., keep quiet after dark - slightly challenging with young kids:). You must have a car to explore the area. The hosts were extremely nice. No TV but a complementary projector we used with Netflix. And the best part? It has a little natural stream in its backyard!! Yet it's prohibited to go in. Still amazing.
